The desolate landscape rang with the rapid beat of hooves. Iron-shod horses swept through the snow along the road.

The man at the head of the group rode a tall horse. He wore a dark blue police uniform, his thick brows set in a determined expression. The muscles in the arm holding the reins bulged, echoing the powerful, sleek black horse surging beneath him.

The horse stopped beside the car, and Shu Wanghuai slowly rolled down the window.

The rider lowered his head in greeting, his gaze resolute. "Xie Yi, captain of the plateau mounted police."

Shu Wanghuai had just delivered a cow's calf through the night, battling altitude sickness. Even wrapped in the thickest wool blanket, he was freezing all over, his head splitting with pain.

Captain Xie took off his jacket, leaving only the white tank top he wore for training, and moved to pull Shu Wanghuai into his arms to warm him.

Still bitter about the past, Doctor Shu pulled away with a mocking smile. "You're homophobic, Captain Xie. Doesn't it disgust you to hold me?"

The man's strong arms quickly held him in place. "If you don't want to die of hypothermia, stay still."

Shu Wanghuai gave a cold laugh, thinking that after all these years, he was still so heartless.

"And one more thing." The hunky captain held him for a long time, his scorching body heat steadily warming Shu Wanghuai's back. At last, he softened and whispered in his ear, "I'm cured. I'm not homophobic anymore."

"Sorry, Captain Xie." Shu Wanghuai's ears tingled, but he turned away indignantly. "This kid isn't so eager to throw himself at you anymore."
