The Laid-Back Consort Is Forced to Build Infrastructure

Lin Sihe, a workaholic who pulls all-nighters and works 996, transmigrates while on a blind date at the library.

A great fire brings her to this unfamiliar world. Not only does she gain a princess wife she married just the day before, she also discovers that her predecessor was a woman who disguised herself as a man to sit for the imperial exams and become the top scholar.

After spending days terrified that her identity will be exposed, Lin Sihe discovers that the princess has no interest in her at all.

In that case...

Workaholic? 996?

All she has to do is cling to the princess and lie flat. She gets food and lodging, doesn’t have to work, and has just enough status that no one dares bully her. Her dream life arrives so quickly that she sets aside the golden finger of a library that has somehow appeared in her mind and focuses on being a salted fish who doesn’t even bother to turn over.

But...

This dynasty is so poor that lying flat isn’t very comfortable.

Lying on a hard zitan-wood bed, Lin Sihe reassures herself: At least the wood is sold by the gram. It’s fine if it’s hard.

Rinsing her mouth with willow twigs and coarse salt? Lin Sihe tells herself to put up with it.

But when the imperial chef tosses meat that hasn’t even been blanched into a pot, Lin Sihe can’t take it anymore. Even a salted fish deserves to lie flat in comfort!

Hot pot, barbecue, and ice cream, watermelon and milk tea, none can be left out. They’ve already invented soap, so how can we go without perfume? Can’t see my face in a bronze mirror? Let me look through a book and see how to make glass.

Is all this commotion going to attract unwanted attention?

Lin Sihe looks at her wife in name only. “Um... well... would you be interested in becoming empress?”

But after all the fuss, Lin Sihe turns around and realizes that her backing has grown stronger and stronger.

A newly powerful chancellor who was once the daughter of a disgraced official, a wealthy businesswoman who came from a brothel, a maid who reclaimed her contract and became a sea captain, a woman who was once confined to the inner quarters and later became a teacher, and a female general now commanding a powerful army, who once suffered beatings at her husband’s hands...

And Lin Sihe is connected to every one of them.
