Falling for My Deskmate's Mother

Song Jinhe had heard her deskmate talk about her stepmother countless times.

A homewrecker who stole someone else's husband, a fake-sweet schemer, wicked, hypocritical, two-faced.

Then, after an unexpected bet, she went to her deskmate's home to tutor her and finally met the infamous wicked stepmother.

A loose gray sweater hugged her alluring figure. Her slender waist was softer than a flower stem, as if it would snap in someone's grasp. Her eyes, like autumn waters shrouded in sorrow, were misty and glistening. She always called Song Jinhe softly, "Young lady."

So old-fashioned and prim.

She mistook Song Jinhe for a special-admissions student working her way through school, and felt a strange sense of pity and sympathy for her.

She secretly slipped her tutoring fees, brought her fruit between lessons, found all sorts of excuses to keep her for dinner, and even packed her a portion of the lunch she usually made for her deskmate.

But Song Jinhe only found herself entertaining even more improper fantasies.

She cornered the woman in the hallway and kissed her by force, pinned her to the desk and restrained her hands, held her hand beneath the dinner table, and even flattened the garden she loved most.

Didn't she like playing mother to other people?

Song Jinhe pressed close to her ear again and again, calling her Mother.

The woman was timid, always teary-eyed, and kept repeating, "You can't tell Jiajia. You're her only friend."

"She'll be angry. She'll be hurt."

"We can't do this."

Song Jinhe visited so often that rumors spread everywhere. Even her deskmate misunderstood, and took the chance to confess when they were alone.

As Song Jinhe listened to her, her gaze remained fixed on the half-open doorway.

Someone was hiding by the wall, one hand covering her mouth, her body trembling as she cried.

Weren't you the one who said not to tell her?

Then why were you clinging to me so tightly that night, crying as you repeated over and over that I was yours, yours alone?

Song Jinhe cruelly bit her most sensitive earlobe and chuckled softly. "Then will Mom be my mother alone?"
