He Became a Paper Doll

Top, mutually exclusive relationships.

My best friend died twenty minutes before confessing to me.

Twenty minutes earlier, he collapsed on his way to meet me when his heart condition suddenly flared up.

Twenty minutes later, I saw the confession he had left for me on every giant screen in the city.

I couldn't accept his death and wanted to follow him.

But by chance, I discovered that he had become a character in a game.

Even across space and dimensions, I recognized him at a glance.

But everyone told me that every word my friend said was generated by AI, and that he was only trying to get me to spend money.

Until one day, he wrote an acrostic poem that hid a message in every other line.

I pieced together the words.

I might be the only person in the whole world who understood what that message meant.

I had to save him.
