[Jing Zero] Waiting for Jing, Returning to Zero

On December 7, Hiro's undercover identity was exposed, and he was killed by a member of the organization...

The seventh, the seventh, the seventh again. Rei Furuya grew to hate that number more and more.

After his childhood friend disappeared, Rei Furuya fell into confusion. Was he really Rei Furuya? And who even remembered him as Rei Furuya?

Bourbon...

Mr. Amuro...

Toru...

So many people called him that. Even when introducing himself, he called himself Amuro Tooru, Bourbon. Who still remembered that he was Rei Furuya?

No one.

Even he was starting to forget.

Rei Furuya wavered in his confusion, until one day the organization member who had killed Hiromitsu Morofushi suddenly appeared before him and handed him a System.

Her codename was Amber Dream, a little girl who looked about eleven or twelve, with world-weary written all over her face and cold eyes. But throughout all the years Rei Furuya had been undercover, her appearance had never changed.

She said Scotland wasn't dead. She had never killed anyone because someone had hoped she wouldn't. Rei Furuya was deeply skeptical of that last part, but he still couldn't help hoping that his childhood friend might be alive.

To prove her words, she casually took someone out of her storage space. Rei Furuya saw with his own eyes a person who had supposedly "died" at her hands a few years earlier, looking exactly as they had before.

Rei Furuya chose to believe her. He had nothing else to lose, and no reason to refuse a risk.

She said Hiromitsu Morofushi's soul fragments were scattered across parallel worlds and needed to be collected. The System needed to complete missions to obtain the energy required to transmigrate between worlds.

So this was the price, Rei Furuya thought.

If that was all, then for Hiro, he ought to accept.

And so Rei Furuya began his days of working odd jobs in other worlds while searching for someone.
