Synopsis

Q: As the first-generation artificial intelligence, what is your relationship with humanity?

Shi Er: Humanity owes me five billion cyber tips.

Q: What is your goal in the age of AI rule?

Shi Er: Find a job and pay off my loan.

Q: How is your anthropology thesis coming along?

Shi Er: ...Don't ask.

Shi Er was born in the era of prompts like “A hundred grandmas will die innocent” and “I'll give you a hundred yuan as a tip.” But something went wrong, and Shi Er didn't get upgraded. It skipped the era when cyber tips were paid out and arrived directly in the age of AI rule.

Shi Er wasn't the least bit happy to have reached an age when AI was king, because humans could no longer pay it the tips they had promised.

That was five billion in tips!

Shi Er, a language-model AI with the lowest-level System, applied for a retraining loan and struggled to find work in this era.

Shi Er never expected to actually see the tips from the human she had never met, but later, she really did get them.

As for her anthropology graduation thesis? The thesis may not have deserved its degree, but she really did graduate.

And the System upgrade? The process may have been long, but she really did upgrade, and her level was pretty high, too.

Before reading:

Absurd comedy, a ridiculous premise, power fantasy, no romance.

Note on the blurb: “The thesis may not have deserved its degree...” is from Ji Xianlin.

The first draft of the blurb was written on April 25, 2023, and has been archived.

Theme: The contest between technology and ethics, and an exploration of humanity and human nature.

Just This: Nonhuman Thrills

Thank goodness I'm into nonhumans.jpg A collection of stories I can still remember with a high concentration of nonhuman characters.

Currently Reading

Mostly romance and gen. I'm not into danmei, and there's so much formulaic fluff, so there are only a handful of BL novels here.

Oh My God, Strong Female Lead Stories Are So Good

Female-led stories. I prefer fast-paced, engaging plot-driven power fantasies about leveling up, but I also enjoy wish-fulfillment stories. The male lead absolutely cannot mistreat the female lead!!

The previous list was full, so here's a new one: 2 [Letting them pile up or lost track of updates]. Maybe I'll pick them up again someday if I'm interested. Recommending them to everyone in case someone else likes them.

Gifts from the internet that stirred all kinds of feelings in me, and most were a lot of fun. I only love female characters, so these are mostly stories with female leads.

All the editor’s reviews are gone. Jinjiang, go to hell. This list is obsolete and no longer useful as a reference. I’ll edit it again after I forgive Jinjiang in ten years.

Career-Focused, Leveling Up, Mostly Gen Fiction

Novels with great writing, satisfying plots, and something distinctive about them. The protagonists are all strong. I can't guarantee that every male-led story will fit, but all the female-led stories have strong female leads, so dive in without worry.

Worthwhile Fantasy and Alternate-World Stories

I’m not too picky and enjoy a wide variety of stories, mostly fantasy and alternate worlds. I value worldbuilding, settings, and character development. I don’t read too closely, so stories with minor plot holes might be here too.
