Gin at the End of the Century

Diary of Qianli Jinghai:

I want to find an undercover Gin in countless parallel worlds.

At the turn of the century, I found him.

On a lightly misty street in Tokyo at the turn of the century.

Inside a phone booth, a black-haired woman in a bomber jacket and jeans wore a baseball cap pulled low over her head. She tossed a small box up and down in one hand while holding the receiver in the other. "I just sneaked out to buy an MP3 player."

Portable music players had only appeared on the market the year before.

As she spoke, she looked up and glanced outside the phone booth.

A black Porsche sat motionless by the roadside.

She narrowed her eyes slightly. "That's all. I've got to disappear, or I'm really done for."

The phone booth door opened.

Across the street, a silver-haired man with a cigarette between his lips was watching her.

Across the lightly misted road, they gazed at each other for a few seconds.

She tugged her baseball cap lower and slipped around the corner.

She was certain that if she looked at him a few more times, she'd really get killed.
