The Fanfic Cleanup Squad, But It's a Crossover

Countless people have been killed by out-of-character fanfiction.

Naturally, there are also some fanfiction protagonists who realize something is wrong.

That’s rare, since fanfiction protagonists are usually the author’s idealized selves and the ones who benefit from the story.

But some of them still wake up.

Edogawa Kazusa is, according to her character setting, the eldest daughter of the Edogawa family and Ranpo’s older sister.

She realized as a child that she shouldn’t exist.

“Why do you call me your older sister? I’m not your sister.”

It was a cruel thing to say, but perfectly reasonable.

She had been created by someone. She was the only unreasonable existence in this world, created to fulfill a fantasy. But because the author lacked the skill to write her well, she latched onto the Edogawa family from the original work and was given the intelligence specified in her character setting.

Perhaps that was why she knew that her existence was a mistake. Even she, with the power to change things, was helpless in the face of her parents’ deaths as written in the setting.

“Then will you join the Fanfiction Eradication Squad?”

“Would that erase my existence?”

“Perhaps you could try.”

And so, the girl set out to murder other fanfiction protagonists, with the ultimate goal of erasing herself.

Along the way, she met quite a few others in the same boat, such as a gender-swapped bandage enthusiast, a karate champion girl blackened into a green tea schemer, and a cursed queen whose body had been taken over, among others.

Leaving home and abandoning her own world was also a way to let the world return to normal once her influence was gone.

Unfortunately, some people were so lost in their false pleasures that they couldn’t pull themselves out, even when everything was clearly wrong.

The Fanfiction Eradication Squad would choose to physically eliminate every last thing that didn’t belong.

“Coser No. 29, you can go home now.”

A gunshot rang out, accompanied by a look of relief, cutting down the tumor of this world.
