Even a Passerby Wants to Keep Up With the Volleyball Comments!

The original prompt has been replaced. Feel free to take this one; sorry.

[Blurb tentative]

Hello, everyone. I'm Mr. Nobody.

But please note that being Mr. Nobody doesn't mean that's my actual name. In fact, my name is ■■.

Yes, my name has been censored.

But that's not your problem. The problem is that something is wrong with this world.

*

At some point, ■■ realized that he kept getting inexplicably overlooked. First his appearance, then his name, and finally his very existence.

Just as he graduated from middle school and moved on to high school, thinking the whole world was about to forget him, things took a turn.

On the day of the opening ceremony, something strange appeared before his eyes: lines of comments scrolling across his vision.

That's right, comments just like the ones you see when watching an anime appeared right in front of him.

After seeing the comments, ■■ realized two very important things:

1. The world he lived in was actually an anime about volleyball.

2. It seemed that if he became a fan-favorite character, the world would stop forgetting him!

*

One day, the official account announced that the popular sports anime Haikyu○ Years would be remade with a new school as the main team, adding new characters and creating a different ending. It could be watched as an alternate timeline.

At first, the fans weren't convinced. They waited for the remake to air on its premiere day, ready to judge it harshly.

Unfortunately, the new character was so well hidden that it took the fans ages to realize that the supposed new character was actually Mr. Nobody.

Fans: No wonder he was so hard to find!

But they soon realized that this Mr. Nobody wasn't trying to steal the spotlight from the original characters and become popular at their expense. He was a hardworking and handsome Mr. Nobody!

And so the comments went from this...

At first:

[Who is it?! Who's the new character?!]

[There's this background character with no face who's appeared a bunch of times... But the new character can't be faceless, so it definitely isn't him!]

Later:

[Mr. Nobody finally has a face! Wait... who are you, handsome?]

[I knew I was right about you... I've decided. You're my new husband! Nobody else gets to have you!]
