After leading TC to the Spring Championship, Pei Yimi was hailed as a god for his incredible ability to take on five opponents at once. He was the talk of the town, becoming the strongest Knight and the center of everyone's attention.
Everyone was looking forward to TC's performance in the Summer Split. But as soon as the season began, Pei Yimi was suddenly benched.
After changes in the club's staff, he was told to switch positions and play Angel.
After all, the strongest Knight had played Angel when he first went pro. His bug-level performance was so dominant it changed the rules of the game, and many people still believe he was better as an Angel than a Knight.
Back then, there was a popular saying: Knights deal damage, Angels support, except for Pei.
Pei Yimi's peak record was wiping out two teams single-handedly as an Angel.
Switching to Angel seemed easy enough, but he refused to give in. Even when the club threatened to freeze him out, he didn't budge: No way. I'd rather die than play Angel.
So the club demoted Pei Yimi to the secondary league.
Each match had ten teams, and Pei Yimi could take them all down on his own. The audience enjoyed watching him crush the competition, but those in the industry knew that playing too many low-level matches would ruin him.
To the club, a disobedient genius was better off destroyed.
On the fifth day of Pei Yimi's mindlessly dominating the lower league, his former captain, Gu Zhui, showed up at his door. "I'll pay the penalty fee. Pack your things and come with me."
Pei Yimi didn't even look up. "Sorry, I only play damage dealers."
Gu Zhui: "Fine. You can play one."
Pei Yimi laughed. Back then, this guy had acted exactly the same way, tricking him into playing Angel.
Everyone said the two of them, one Knight and one Angel, worked together flawlessly. Only Pei Yimi knew how much he loved playing Knight.
Now this guy's club had three damage dealers on the bench, and he was coming to recruit Pei Yimi, who used to play Angel. Even a dog could tell what he was up to.
Gu Zhui wouldn't give up. "I'm really letting you play damage."
Pei Yimi: "...Then put it in writing."
Gu Zhui: "Sure. We'll put it in the contract."
Pei Yimi: "...Then go pay the fee. I'm a little expensive, so be prepared."
Gu Zhui: "."
Gu Zhui: Thanks for asking. I'm at the base, and I just finished paying. I nearly went bankrupt buying my treasure back.
The mastermind and controller who plans everything in advance, the top player (Gu Zhui) & the skilled player who can take down the whole field single-handedly (Pei Yimi)
I might start with their reunion, or I might tell the story chronologically, starting with their first meeting back then. Haven't decided yet.
I may make changes before posting, but the two tropes of wanting to play damage and reuniting after a long separation won't change.
An original game with multiple teams competing. The last team standing wins.
