I Ganked My Ex and Got Trending [Esports]

As the top jungler currently in the game, Li Chen is the benchmark for every club. Everyone tells their players to learn from him.

But they don't know that Li Chen has a secret: Qin Mian, the hottest actor right now, is his ex-boyfriend.

They parted on good terms back then. If anyone has to take the blame, it should be Li Chen, who was too difficult and drove him away.

As the saying goes, a good ex should be as good as dead. Li Chen considers himself a model ex: he doesn't contact him, mention him, or let on that they know each other.

Qin Mian is just as good an ex. He even asks in advance whether Li Chen will be at gatherings with their mutual friends.

Then this exemplary ex shows up at the official All-Star entertainment match hosted by the tournament organizers.

Li Chen assumes he's there because he's been forced to make an appearance, so during the pre-match warm-up, he kills him until he's 0-5. That way, it'll make sense for them to avoid each other on the variety show afterward.

But he never expects Qin Mian not only to avoid him, but to come looking for trouble.

“You killed me until I went 0-5. Now I'm trending, and everyone's calling me trash.”

“Aren't you going to take responsibility, God Chen?”

Li Chen: “???”

Aloof celebrity who loves double standards top & sunny, slightly capricious jungler bottom

1. The game is League of Legends, with some original additions.

2. This isn't a story focused exclusively on matches. It mixes in elements from the entertainment industry, but at heart it's a sweet romance.

New disclaimer: My writing is still immature. If you don't like it, please leave instead of forcing yourself to read. If you must, you can criticize the author, but don't criticize the characters.

My collection's completed novel, The Homegrown Support's Feeding Guide. Blurb:

Everyone knows the transfer window in esports is full of gossip. The biggest story this year: He Ci is choosing a concubine.

Unlike most harmonious bot lanes, the bot lane duo at TZ Club never gets along. They change supports every year, and rumors say every one of them was bullied off by He Ci, the AD player.

[The club is running out of time.]

[He hates players with strong mechanics because they won't listen to him, and he hates the ones who do listen because they're bad. LOL.]

[No big deal, just sign a rookie. Didn't your dad, He Ci, claim he could win with a dog as his support?]

With the transfer window about to close and the club in a panic, He Ci brings in an eighteen-year-old boy from God knows where. “Let him give it a try.”

The club: ?

Wait, can this clean-cut kid with a good-student face even play the game?

Turns out he really can.

By himself, he makes the opposing team focus down and target an off-meta support, gets the developers to rush through a change to item stats, and even takes MVP after all five of his support picks are banned in a single match...

After winning the Best Rookie and Best Support awards by unanimous vote, Yu Xinche humbly says in an interview:

“How did I do it? Maybe my AD listens to me.”

[He Ci listens??? Did you get that backwards?]

[Even if you're making it up, at least make it believable.]

[Not a chance.]

After the awards ceremony, netizens question Yu Xinche's claim. As the discussion heats up, He Ci posts an update:

The greatest virtue of an AD: listening to his support at home.

*

He Ci and the rookie support he personally trained work together seamlessly. Anyone can see how much he looks after and favors Yu Xinche.

Someone asks his teammates what they think.

Teammate: “All his previous supports joined him halfway through. Our Xiao Che was trained by him every step of the way: in life, in competition, and in how to act. He taught him everything.”

“Who can beat a homegrown support?”

Theme: Grow together and work hard to achieve your dreams.
