When Books Suddenly Gained Consciousness

[Check out the synopsis for my upcoming work, The Strongest Me Got Exposed and Was Forced to Become a Savior, at the bottom!] This story's synopsis They say Yokohama holds a treasure called the Book, capable of granting any wish. Everyone wants to get their hands on it. One day, someone knocked on the inside of the safe where the Book was kept. A clear young voice politely asked, "Hello, could you open the door for me? I'm locked in here." Ango, passing by: ? * As a newly born World Consciousness, Tsurumi Shu had been trapped in a pitch-black safe ever since he woke up: lonely, bored, and cold. He'd had enough and decided to take the chance to make a run for it! Right in front of everyone, Tsurumi Shu dove into the computer screen on the desk. He crawled out through a dark passage and peeked out to find a room full of men in black suits staring at him in terror. The orange-haired man at their head went blank. "Are you Sadako...?" The boy cut him off. "Sorry, wrong way. I'll be going now." Then he turned around and crawled back into the TV screen, not forgetting to add, "I like your hat." Chuya: ? The second time, the third time... Tsurumi Shu kept learning how to be a person. Later, he ended up homeless, until a blond man stopped him in the pouring rain. "Will you take me in?" The drenched, black-haired boy tilted his face up, his golden eyes an unusual shade, full of undisguised hope and nervousness. By some inexplicable impulse, Zero took him home, like someone adopting a stray cat. Much later, Tsurumi Shu finally worked up the courage to confess to his caretaker. "I'm not human." The blond man clutched him tightly, gritting his teeth. "Whoever told you that is talking nonsense." Tsurumi Shu said, "They said you aren't human either." Zero: ? Tsurumi Shu pointed at the Police Academy ghosts floating behind the man. "Whenever I cuddle up to you, they say you're not human. Tooru, are you not human either?" Zero: ?! * Tsurumi Shu kept some secrets from his caretaker. For example, the world favored him in a special way, and things always went his way wherever he went. For another, his words had power and could constrain reality. And another: if a human caught sight of his eyes, their sanity would plummet by three thousand feet, and he could control them. He had done all sorts of things: He brought stray cats to block the Armed Detective Agency president's way, leaving the man speechless as he handed over several dried fish; He wished misfortune on the boss who made life difficult for his caretaker. The next day, everyone at the liquor store struggled to hold back laughter as Gin tripped on flat ground; He listened to the dead pour out their grievances and followed the clues straight to the culprit, solving the case so fast that a certain elementary school detective began questioning his own life... Tsurumi Shu hadn't done many bad things. There was just one that made him feel like a bad kid. He hypnotized Zero just so he could stay by his side. He'd schemed and plotted for no other reason than to experience what it felt like to be loved. A very long reader's guide: * The couple is Tooru and Shu, a sweet love-at-first-sight story with no angst. * The protagonist is the embodiment of the World Consciousness, but he's not godlike. Think of him as a protagonist with a powerful golden finger. * More plot-focused early on, with more romance later. This is a rescue story: everyone who can be saved will be. * In the synopsis, "hypnotized" refers to his ability going out of control. They were already together before it happened, and it was just a misunderstanding between a couple. Their relationship is built on mutual affection, and they deeply respect and cherish each other. Zero knows all about his ability and will sort things out quickly. The misunderstanding won't last long, and there are no coercive romance scenes. * [Major OOC warning!] Lots of headcanons. If it's not for you, run, and no need to tell me if you drop the story. * Please don't mention other authors' works in my comments, and don't mention my work in theirs. Please add it to your reading list =3= Synopsis: Qi Le returned to the real world from an infinite world, hoping to plant flowers, walk dogs, and live an ordinary life. Unfortunately, monsters from another species invaded and ate his flowers. Furious, he was about to tear them apart with his bare hands. But his neighbor beat him to it and comforted him. "Don't be scared. I'm here." Qi Le played along. "Mm-hmm, thanks, bro." As the monsters wreaked havoc, the authorities hurriedly set up a research group and a team of supernatural ability users. But they knew too little about the monsters, and the death toll kept climbing. A survivor from the infinite world joined the team and told the captain, "The strongest big shot is back in the real world too. Those monsters are just a dish to him. He once protected countless people. He's a great savior, our only hope." To save the world, the authorities posted on the supernatural ability forum, asking for help. Many survivors chimed in, excitedly sharing gossip about the big shot and singing his praises for thousands of comments. The big shot became famous overnight, but no one could find him. Until one day, an S-class monster appeared in the city square, putting countless lives in danger. "Should we run too?" Qi Le's friend asked, trembling as he grabbed his arm. Qi Le sighed, took off his jacket, and pushed through the crowd. With his other hand, he drew a gleaming long blade from his spine. "Me, I, " "I hate being a savior more than anything." The supernatural ability team's captain rushed to the scene. The monster was nowhere to be seen. All he found was his well-behaved, gentle neighbor, calmly wiping blood from a long blade. They stared at each other. Qi Le: "Bro." Nie Huan: "...Where's the monster?" Qi Le pointed to the pool of blood on the ground. "Dead," Qi Le said. "Sorry I hid it from you. I'm the strongest big shot you've been looking for." ** Nie Huan had a neighbor named Qi Le. He was timid, and when a monster ate his flowers, his eyes would turn red with fright. He was quick-witted, able to point out a monster's weakness with a single sentence, though he humbly said it was just luck. Qi Le was innocent and kind, always relying on Nie Huan and wanting to be near him. Nie Huan had rose-colored glasses firmly in place when it came to Qi Le, and swore to protect him forever, until he saw Qi Le cut down monsters one after another as easily as chopping vegetables. A team member hesitated. "Captain, this is your timid, fragile little brother?" Nie Huan nodded, pretending not to see the problem. "That's right." Everyone else: ?? Theme: The world is vast.
