[Click the author's page to see upcoming novels: Reincarnated as the Master of a Corrupted Citadel, Where Is the Sword Boy's Secret Identity?, and When Natsume Becomes a Master. Help the author get started on a Touken Ranbu story.] After graduating from junior high in Hachiman, Natsume received an invitation to travel abroad. After saying goodbye to Aunt Touko and Uncle Shigeru, he boarded a plane to America with Nyanko-sensei, still somewhat puzzled. On the plane, Natsume dozed off. When he woke again, he was jolted fully awake by Nyanko-sensei landing hard on his chest. “What is it, Sensei?” “Look outside, you idiot Natsume!” Natsume looked up and saw Superman fly past the window. Wait, what just flew past?! After recovering from the shock, Natsume realized he seemed to have ended up in a world unlike any other. Here were the Avengers, who protected the world; Spider-Man, who appeared on the streets of New York; Batman, the Dark Knight of Gotham; and the Man of Steel from Metropolis... And there were even more unexpected surprises in store for Natsume on this trip. His Book of Friends seemed to have mutated. It could now summon his yokai friends across universes, and it had even started accepting requests! [Request: Gear Flower] Description: Gears... machinery... I should find more and decorate myself with them. Then when he sees me again, he won't be frightened, and he'll accept this flower, won't he? Reward: True Name] [Request: Winter Dance] [Request: The Forgotten Promise] Yokai really do exist in this world. Many people may never see one in their entire lives. Or perhaps a chance encounter, fleeting as a dream, is the only opportunity they will ever have. People forget, and yokai do too. But people are forgetful, quick to cast their memories aside, while yokai remember for a long time, until the bond they formed reaches its end. So Natsume Takashi's arrival would build a bridge between humans and yokai, giving those bonds, so often filled with regret, a gentle ending. Throughout this journey, Natsume completed many requests and witnessed many sincere relationships. Of course, he also gained a great many wonderful friends. After all, who could possibly resist the kindness of Natsume Takashi? New York Arc: [Gear Flower] √ [Winter Dance] √ Gotham Arc: [The Forgotten Promise] √ [An Unbroken Continuation] √ [The Disappeared] √ Metropolis Arc: [A Missed Bond] √ Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters Arc: [The Aging Tree] √ Reader's Guide: 1. Characterization is based on my personal understanding, so there may be some OOC moments. Below is the blurb for Reincarnated as the Master of a Corrupted Citadel! After lamenting countless times that life would be so much better if it were Touken Ranbu, that people really should be able to be little emperors of their own citadel, and that in her next life she absolutely had to be a master, Dongyun You finally transmigrated. With a Touken Ranbu golden finger, but a nerfed version. Good news: It's the Touken Ranbu world, he has a citadel, and he really is a master. Bad news: His power isn't compatible, so he can't forge swords. He can only use the System to draw cards, and there are all sorts of rules restricting him. He has to divide his spirit... no, put some kind of consciousness into them to activate them. In any case, the citadel can't function without swords, and the System still wants him dead. How is he supposed to be the little emperor of his citadel like this? After the System's explanation knocked Dongyun You flat, he crawled around in the dark for a while. Then he thought of how beautiful his swords were and gritted his teeth as he opened the card-drawing screen. Dongyun You was stunned by a whole page of corrupted, shattered, dark character cards in the pool. ...Good grief, why does this lousy System have to be into this stuff? Dongyun You drew a card with reverence, and got the perfect pull on his first try. It was Mikazuki Munechika, dressed in black with a red lining, his hair so dark it was almost black. Before Dongyun You could think it over, his attention was captured by the face suddenly leaning close, and by those dark red eyes, holding a new moon within them as they opened. Their close connection carried an almost obsessive fondness and possessiveness. ...Mommy. Dongyun You was instantly left dizzy with infatuation. He happily threw himself into drawing miraculous sword cards, ahem, building his citadel. He diligently checked in every day, shared posts to claim resources, and worked hard to raise his level by mooching off the System But no one had told him that the so-called check-ins and shares were livestream clips. Publicly posted on the most widely used site in the current administration. It wasn't until Dongyun You had finally assembled a somewhat trained squad of swords and sent them on an expedition that he came face-to-face with a squad of government enforcers. Holy crap! Am I a terrible master? Seriously? Me? Who's the bastard spreading this rumor? Dongyun You fled in a panic, and from then on, he became even more careful with his words and actions. Gradually, public opinion began to turn around: I'm not a terrible master, right, right, wait, I was deceived and abused by corrupted swords? No, no, that can't be right either, can it? How could one describe a bond like this? Resolute, obsessive, unyielding. Nothing could stand in its way or sever it. So tightly intertwined, endlessly entangled, and clearly cherished by both sides. He willingly opened himself to them, and they willingly became the blades in his hands. Theme: Kindness can withstand the passage of time.
