A Guide to Sword Cultivation in the World of Wuxia

Shen Xingyun began learning swordsmanship at the age of five. From then on, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to the sword, obsessed with it until nothing else mattered. At twenty, he reached the pinnacle of swordsmanship, then went into seclusion to comprehend the sword, never once entering the world.

But perhaps “Heaven took pity on him.” When he opened his eyes again, he had arrived in an unfamiliar world, with a System chattering in his ear: “I'm the Sword Cultivator Romance System. Here's an opportunity: do you want a wife?”

Shen Xingyun: Thank you, but I already have a wife.

“Great, the Sword Cultivator Romance System is now bound. Target: the Sword God!”

Ximen Chuixue began learning the sword at seven. He loved it like life itself, and nothing but the sword could catch his eye. The System looked at its Host, handsome beyond compare and elegant beyond words, with graceful, exquisite swordsmanship and a dragonlike bearing that captivated everyone. It thought smugly: Even a sword fanatic will be moved by this perfect specimen!

But in the end, it had miscalculated:

Ximen Chuixue (approvingly): You're good!

Shen Xingyun (snuggling up to his wife): Thanks, but my sword is better!

Ximen Chuixue (pleased): You've come.

Shen Xingyun (drawing his wife): Ximen Chuixue, fight me today!

Ximen Chuixue (expectantly): The gates of Wanmei Manor are open to you.

Shen Xingyun (looking at his wife): Sorry, I have no time. I need to hold my sword and comprehend the Dao.

Ximen Chuixue: I love you.

Shen Xingyun (hugging his wife tightly): You're not sincere!

The System began to ponder as it watched its Host spend every day hugging his sword and talking to himself.

Later, when Ximen Chuixue tossed the “wife sword” Shen Xingyun had been holding onto the ground and wrapped his arms tightly around him, Shen Xingyun suddenly realized that somehow, a strange kind of romance quest had been completed.

System: Well, there you have it. So this is the right way to win someone over.
