[I Still Made a Move on Big Brother]
You're an utterly unremarkable rookie cop who has just started at Gotham's GCPD. One utterly unremarkable morning, you get up as usual and prepare to report for work.
But no one else knows that you can't remember anything except your own name. And no one else can see the mysterious panel that has suddenly appeared before you.
Curious, you decide to open it.
Your pupils begin to quake uncontrollably as you stare at the screen.
It's full of all the different ways you'll die after joining the GCPD!
For example:
You and your partner are patrolling Gotham in broad daylight when your superior radios in: Two-Face has escaped...
You and your partner are patrolling Gotham in broad daylight when your superior radios in: Scarecrow has escaped...
You and your partner are patrolling Gotham in broad daylight when your superior radios in: The Joker has escaped...
Killer Croc has escaped, Poison Ivy has escaped, Mr. Freeze has escaped...
You: Is Gotham's prison made of paper or something? Fine, I'll go out at night instead!
You frantically scroll through the screen and finally find a scenario set at night.
You and your partner are driving around Gotham on patrol when a car full of thugs who want to pick a fight rams yours, sending it flying before it explodes.
You: ...I'm not giving up. I'll strike first and ram them!
After finally ramming the thugs' car, you get a call from your superior: Deathstroke/the League of Assassins/Doomsday/aliens/the Justice League/the Avengers have come to Gotham...
Congratulations, you have achieved the NE ending [An Utterly Unremarkable Death]
You: ...Are you all insane? What is Gotham to you, some kind of night hotel?
You frantically scroll through the screen, trying to stay alive.
You choose to join Commissioner Gordon's faction, but not long afterward, Commissioner Gordon passes away. Corruption and disorder take over the police department. Soon after, Wayne Manor explodes, Batman disappears, and Gotham descends into chaos. You and your colleague Renee Montoya struggle to hold things together, but in the end, you're killed by someone for reasons you never learn.
Congratulations, you have achieved the NE ending [A Death With a Few More Twists]
You: ...What did I ever do to deserve this? Just let me live. I'm tired.jpg
You keep scrolling through the panel, exhausted, hoping to find some chance of survival.
After Commissioner Gordon dies, you join the Kane faction to protect yourself. Uneasy about their methods, you secretly help Renee Montoya pass inside information to Gotham's vigilantes. You and the vigilante Nightwing, who has a very nice butt, develop feelings for each other. But your actions are discovered, and you die on the way to being rescued by Nightwing.
Congratulations, you have achieved the BE ending [The One Who Never Came]
You: ...!!
Does this survival game really have to include romance? Don't think adding romance will make me forget that I died! I don't want romance, I want to live! Let me live!!
You keep scrolling through the panel.
Not long after you join the GCPD, the Commissioner you respect, Gordon, is gone forever. Heartbroken and utterly disappointed in the state of the Gotham police, you request a transfer to Bludhaven.
You: ...I finally found a way to survive. I'm transferring out today!
At the Bludhaven police department, you meet Officer Grayson, who's very handsome and has a very nice butt. Even though he's always late and inexplicably stands you up, you still fall in love with him.
Your happy days don't last long. One day, he suddenly texts you to say that he has urgent business in Gotham. He never comes back.
Worried about your boyfriend, you decide to look for him. You arrange to meet him at a cafe in Gotham. Officer Grayson texts you that he has an important secret to tell you.
You never make it to the cafe. You die right outside its door.
Congratulations, you have achieved the BE ending [The Distance Between Us, So Near Yet So Far]
Congratulations to Officer Grayson for achieving the BE ending x2 [The Second Time He Lost His Love at the Last Moment, The Secret He Could Never Tell Her]
You: ...Don't think you can fool me like this! Why are there two endings?!
Wait, the "her" in the second ending is me. That means Officer Grayson gets a BE ending with me too. So I died for nothing before, and Nightwing didn't fall for me? My mouth is full of colorful curses.jpg
The further you scroll, the more ridiculous things get. You even find a scenario where you fall for Nightwing while working at the Gotham police department, then fall for Officer Grayson after transferring to the Bludhaven police department. You can't choose between them, and after deciding you want both, you die at the hands of Killer Croc, sinking to the bottom of his stomach.
Congratulations to Mr. Killer Croc for achieving the HE ending [The Taste Was So-So, Barely Enough to Pick My Teeth]
You: What the *&% is wrong with you?! You're even complaining that I don't taste good! Killer Croc, I'm going to turn you into crocodile sashimi!
You decide to embrace the dark side, and finally reach the last ending.
You recover your lost memories and remember why you joined the GCPD. Commissioner Gordon and Batman are both dead by now. You don't even consider the few Robins a threat, and every villain other than you is a third-rate nobody.
With the GCPD as your base, you extend your reach across the whole city. All of Gotham, from the skies to the streets, is in your hands! Even that little blue bird has no choice but to perch obediently in your palm, becoming your sharpest weapon!
He should have belonged to you all along. No, he was born to belong to you!
Congratulations, you have achieved the TE ending [■■■■■]
You: Uh... I was only joking about turning evil! Sure, having Nightwing is great, but what about my Officer Grayson with the nice butt?! And where's my HE ending?!
[Reader Notes]
1. The CP is Big Blue Bird. Old Bat Dad doesn't die, but Commissioner Gordon really does kick the bucket (sorry, Commissioner).
2. The blurb may be revised or expanded later.
3. More details are being added.
Theme: Keep striving instead of accepting fate; create your own future
