Western Crossover: I'm Just a Barista

[Please read the notices at the very end before reading the blurb and starting the story. Important!] Chapter comments are open, so feel free to leave a comment. If you like this story, please give it a good review. Thank you, everyone! [This story is a 1v1 romance with the Little Red Bird. It has a serious tone, but at heart it's still a sweet little romance, so feel free to dive in. Some chapter-end notes in VIP chapters include bonuses for readers supporting the official version. The author will also periodically revise the story and add new content, and is only responsible for the official version on Jinjiang.] ◆◆Important: [As of now, the notes for Chapters 37, 43, 75, and 104 answer questions about the story. Read them as needed. If anything is unclear, just ask; I'll reply when I see it. The sources of the characters' names are clearly marked in the blurb. Other details, hints, and supplementary information appear in the story's dialogue and monologues. As the plot progresses, there will be twists in what the characters understand, so please don't jump to conclusions after reading just one chapter. The story moves at a leisurely pace and uses multiple points of view, so please be patient. If you prefer a faster pace, the watch-along version can be read as a condensed version of the main story. If you're still finding it difficult, as I said, just leave.] [Completed: [Western Crossover] How the Zoldycks and the Waynes Joined Forces in Marriage, pairing: Michael] [Completed: How to Open an Inn in Gotham [Western Crossover], pairing: Michael] [Completed: The Feasibility of Working the Night Shift in Gotham [Western Crossover], pairing: Bucket] [Story Blurb] You're an ordinary person, or at least you probably are. After all, when your brain tells you that you've transmigrated, you can officially call yourself a successful transmigrator. Looking at this new world, where oddballs roam everywhere and aliens are everywhere, you, a lab escapee with no memories of your original self, decide to give up in New York. No, you nervously take up your old line of work again. A barista who can make all kinds of coffee. Life is pretty pleasant, as long as you ignore the fact that New York has a minor incident every three days and a major one every five. Apart from that, life is harmonious and happy, especially since the guy upstairs from your coffee shop is incredibly handsome: black hair, blue eyes, and a gorgeous figure. Looking at his slender build, you can't help but sigh. Other people get three decent meals a day, while he downs countless cups of coffee without stopping. In the spirit of the customer being king, of course you choose to look after your customer. Somehow, while you're taking care of him, things get away from you, and before you know it, you're dating. You seriously suspect he only likes your coffee, not you! But it seems things aren't so simple. During yet another invasion, you watch your seemingly frail boyfriend knock out a thug with a coffee machine. The two of you stare at each other. In your panic, you somehow use another coffee machine to knock out the thug who had just woken up. The scene is awkward for a moment. Then your coffee-loving boyfriend pulls out a new coffee machine and asks if you'll marry him. You: Uh... Who's the bride? The coffee machine? Coffee Guy: ... Thug: I get it now. I'm the only one who got hurt. [● Important Reading Notes] 1. The pairing is with the Little Red Bird. 2. Any out-of-character moments are on me. They're the best! There are personal interpretations, so if that's not for you, run! The main story is in third person, with no fixed point of view. Whoever's being written is the focus, so leave if you can't accept that! The timeline is my own and will be adjusted to serve the plot, so don't scrutinize it! Coffee facts are generally sourced from Baidu, so don't scrutinize those either! 3. The heroine knows basically nothing about superheroes and the like (take note!). Her abilities will gradually unlock as the plot progresses. The story references Isolation, TSN (The Social Network), Now You See Me, and Beyond: Two Souls, but won't really touch on the specific plots of the latter three. If you haven't seen them, just treat them as my own additions, or look them up by title. 4. They are dating from the start. How they got together will be covered later. 5. The author has let loose and is writing without overthinking. There are personal interpretations; if you think something's wrong, it's a personal interpretation. I'll flag these in the chapter notes. If you can't accept that, leave! 6. There may be some dark humor and a little bit of superhero-villain bashing. If that's not for you, leave in time. If you see something you think is a problem, not good enough, or simply don't like, please leave instead of making things difficult for the author or yourself. You don't need to tell me why you're leaving; just go. 7. Please don't mention other authors' works under this story, and vice versa. Let's work together to keep the comments section harmonious. There are countless great stories out there; you can find something else to read. No need to notify me if you drop the story. I respectfully decline writing advice. In short, if you don't like it, just leave. No need to tell me, thanks. [Check out my upcoming stories: 1. No pairing, Batkid story: [Western Crossover] The Batkid Never Gives Up! 2. [Western Crossover] The Batkid Never Gives Up! Please add it to your reading list. [Blurb below] Josiah Wayne is, on the surface, Gotham's little prince, a black-haired, blue-eyed darling of the media. In reality, every night he changes into the outfit he complains looks like a flashy red-and-green traffic light, then follows Batman as one of the Robins. Incidentally, his Batman is the one who wears a high-collared trench coat, stands two meters tall, and is a muscular hunk who takes down villains with a single punch. That's right, this Batman is Damian Wayne, also known as Josiah's horrible dad. Josiah: The more I think about it, the angrier I get. What kind of dad tells his son, "I was climbing snowy mountains when I was three. You're already thirteen and still haven't finished climbing one"? So annoying.jpg Convinced that Uncle Dick started the noble tradition of running away from home, Josiah makes another wish to his little sister, Jucy. "This time, I definitely want a different dad!" Jucy: "Okay." The next day, young master Josiah wakes up in a rundown alley in Gotham and cries out that he wants to go home. Jucy: I can't. I'm out of energy. You have to earn Dad's approval first. He thought his cute cat face would make it easy to win his dad's approval, but what on earth is all this? A Robin dad younger than him who still looks normal, a Batman dad who went dark and killed his best friend, a Robin dad who joined Superman's side wholeheartedly and spouts nothing but justice, a dad who leads the League of Assassins and wants to destroy the world, a dad who ended up being the eldest brother at home, a dad with a deathly pale face wearing a tattered Robin suit, and a grandpa who suddenly loves smiling and wearing red lipstick... Worse, some of these dads don't even exist on this timeline. How is a dad like that supposed to approve of me? And no matter what kind of dad they are, they're all such a pain to deal with. Do they all have to be so obsessed with climbing snowy mountains? How many mountains did Talia al Ghul make you climb, anyway? Josiah: I don't need to go back to that family! Reading Notes This is a Batkid story starring Josiah, the son of Mr. Michael, from the author's earlier story about the Zoldycks and the Waynes. You can read it without reading the previous story; they're not closely connected, and his abilities will be explained. 1. Josiah is Mr. Michael's child. 2. The other children from the previous story will also appear. The current setting is that Josiah can use Jucy's power to temporarily change his appearance, enhance his abilities, and use the other children's skills, among other things. 3. Because Josiah has Zoldyck blood, his mind and mental state are a little abnormal (important!). Jucy's abilities are based on Nanika from the Zoldyck family. She and Josiah were once one being, but were later separated, like Alluka and Nanika. 4. I'll flesh out the blurb further before I start publishing. Theme: Love is a presence that accepts, cherishes, and warms us. Learn to love others, and learn to love yourself too.
