[Blurb]

After overcoming every hardship, Tao Zhi makes it from the countryside to a big city for college.

His family is poor and can’t afford to send him to university, so Tao Zhi has to take out student loans and work to support himself.

He juggles part-time jobs and classes, leaving early and coming home late. He has to stretch every penny, and life is hard.

Until a rich second-generation student moves into his dorm.

His roommate is a real bully.

He has a terrible temper, is petty, and is spoiled rotten.

On his first day, he orders Tao Zhi around, making him do his laundry, clean his shoes, attend class for him, and pick up his packages.

…Then he pays him a thousand yuan for his trouble.

Tao Zhi, who was just thinking how awful his new roommate was: Huh???

The little money-grubber’s eyes light up.

-

From then on, Tao Zhi becomes his rich roommate’s devoted sidekick.

When his roommate eats, Tao Zhi hands him chopsticks. When he drinks, Tao Zhi opens the bottle.

When his roommate picks on someone… Tao Zhi hides behind him, lending moral support with his scrawny frame.

But he doesn’t quite get the hang of it and gets yelled at. He spends the night cramming in the library, reading more than a dozen novels to learn how to be an arrogant, overbearing sidekick.

Weekend.

Tao Zhi returns from the library to find an unexpected visitor in the dorm.

The man is dressed in a suit, with an imposing, icy air about him.

Standing in front of Tao Zhi’s roommate, he wipes the blood from his knuckles. His polished leather shoe pins Tao Zhi’s cash cow to the floor. “If I catch you causing trouble at school again, you’re out.”

Tao Zhi is terrified by the sight.

He stands frozen in place, not daring to move.

Only after the man leaves does he hurry over to help his roommate up.

Grinding his teeth, his roommate wipes the blood from his nose and says to Tao Zhi, one word at a time, “I order you to seduce my brother, toy with him, then dump him hard. Better yet, steal his company’s trade secrets. I want to seize power, and then I’ll make him get out!”

Tao Zhi: “?”

Huh?

Tao Zhi’s vision goes black. Thinking of the man’s cold expression, he collapses onto the floor and points at himself. “M-me?”

Reader’s guide:

1. Both leads are each other’s first and only love. The love interest is the older brother, with a ten-year age gap.

2. Includes cross-dressing and catfishing online. It starts as a three-way romance, but the younger brother is destined to be a clown.

3. A silly, sweet little story with no real logic. Just enjoy it.

Blurb for the upcoming book After the Campus Heartthrob Finds Out I Work Part-Time at a Maid Cafe:

Lin Xingyou is pretty and adorable, but comes from a poor family. Besides going to school, he’s always looking for odd jobs: filling in for people in class, picking up packages, working the register at a convenience store. He’ll do anything.

But the pay is meager, and these scattered bits of income aren’t enough to get him out of a tight spot.

Desperate, Lin Xingyou turns his attention to a newly opened maid cafe in the mall, where the hourly pay is astonishingly high.

-

Gu Yan is the heartthrob of S University’s sports department, and the campus heartthrob by popular consensus. Tall and long-legged, rich, handsome, and fit, he’s a national collegiate shooting champion, a darling of fate, and the center of everyone’s attention.

He just isn’t very nice.

Cold, aloof, and not much for talking to people.

And yet this is the very person who shows up at the maid cafe.

Wearing the classic black-and-white uniform, Lin Xingyou greets him with a sweet smile and a finger heart. “Welcome, Master! Your personal maid, Xiao You, is here to serve you~ Today’s Sakura Latte goes perfectly with your smile, Master!”

Wink~

Frozen.

Lin Xingyou finishes his greeting ritual, sees who’s walked in, and freezes.

Gu Yan freezes too.

…So cute.

The little maid.

-

Lin Xingyou hates Gu Yan.

They were roommates for half a semester at the start of their freshman year. Later, for reasons of his own, Gu Yan moved out. Lin Xingyou thought they’d never have to see each other again, but for the next three months, Gu Yan shows up at the cafe every Saturday and Sunday.

Lin Xingyou is friendly to him on the surface, but in truth he can’t stand him.

…

But that still doesn’t stop Gu Yan from showing up every week.

Baby is so cute.

His forced cheerfulness is cute.

His grumpy face is cute too.

Even when he throws things around and hints that Gu Yan should get lost, he’s super cute.

Gu Yan is completely smitten. Unable to hold back his feelings, he draws a heart with ketchup on a plate while watching Lin Xingyou work.

Lin Xingyou walks by: …

Work was already annoying enough as it was.

Theme: Hard work brings rewards.
