Who Is the Ultimate Ruler, After All?

I'm an ordinary senior in college, thoroughly unremarkable.

Then one day, my ordinary life came to an abrupt end:

I was dragged into a brutal, real-life survival game.

The upside was that I no longer had to worry about graduating into unemployment. The downside was that I now had to worry about dying before I graduated.

The System told me every game had three ways to clear it:

a. Find the method to clear the game and finish it normally;

b. Find and kill the level's final boss, the "Overlord";

c. Raise the "Overlord's" affection for you to over 1,000. (The normal range is 0 to 100.)

I started crying as soon as I heard that. An ordinary person like me was obviously going to lie flat and wait for death.

But in the end, I cleared the game.

One level after another.

As for how I cleared them...

Never mind. I don't really want to talk about it.

Note:

1. First-person narration.

2. The protagonist really is an ordinary person. In the infinite game, though, he seems useless. Maybe he never grows, or maybe he develops in all the wrong ways, but he probably won't get stronger in intelligence or physical ability.

3. The male lead is always the same person, but he's not human by nature. His thoughts, behavior, and values are all unlike a human's. His appearance and name change in every level, both inside and outside the game.

4. "I" am a bit stupid, and sometimes, or often, I pick the wrong "Overlord," and then...

Theme: Keep striving to live, and never give up hope, no matter the circumstances
