A Pact with the One Who Holds Life and Death

Throughout his life, Ying Shijia could always sense that there was a certain "person" around him:

When an out-of-control truck stopped an inch from him; when he was rescued by a search-and-rescue team as he was drowning and near death; when, before passing out in a high-rise engulfed in flames, he saw a firefighter break through the window; when food poisoning left him critically ill and medical staff rushed him into a room for emergency treatment...

Every time he narrowly escaped death, he would see "that person" standing a short distance away, to his left or right, in front or behind, watching him without a trace of emotion.

And this time, when he saw the "man" walking toward him step by step, he knew there was no escaping him at last.

"...Could you not take me with you? Could you let me keep living?"

"Let's make a bet. I'll give you ten chances. If you can find my weakness, I'll let you go."

Death is fair to everyone. No one is exempt when life and death are at stake. This was a bet he was bound to lose, because Death has no weakness.

(Originally titled A Deathly Bet. The title was changed because we were concerned that the words "death" and "bet" might have a negative influence.)

A story about a man who always cheats death, but finally finds himself on the brink of dying. He bribes the Grim Reaper through a dark, illicit deal and makes a bet he can't possibly win. If he loses, he dies.

A poker-faced, cold Grim Reaper who says one thing but means another, paired with an extremely gloomy princess-type who loves to complain.

Theme: Love life and cherish it. The world is full of color.
