The Disaster Bride

The Old Gods awaken, turning the mortal world into a hell where people struggle to survive.

Legend has it that offering a bride as a sacrifice can briefly sate an Old God’s “hunger.”

The sacrifice of brides continued.

After entering the game, Da Sheng is seized as a bride simply because he’s so beautiful. Dressed in an elaborate wedding gown, he protests: “Wait, is beauty really universal? Never mind everything else, I’m the wrong sex! I’m the wrong species too, you stupid NPC!”

To keep the bride from escaping, they lock him up tight.

Da Sheng: “Heh, an escape room? I’m great at those!”

Of course, there’s a wedding feast, and the bride gets a dowry.

Da Sheng, passing by after escaping: “Perfect, I’m hungry. I’ll eat a little first, then help myself to some money while I’m at it.”

Da Sheng fights his way to the Old God’s temple.

The Old God he imagined: nonhuman, hideous, indescribable.

The Old God he sees: handsome, white-haired, noble and elegant.

Da Sheng: “Holy crap!? Doki!”

The guards chasing him from behind: “Quick, the bride’s up ahead! Don’t let him get away!”

Roused by the commotion, the Old God opens his eyes.

At a glance, he sees a beautiful bride beneath him in the hall, dressed in lavish, heavy garments that make his slender frame look all the more fragile and delicate. His eyes are lowered as he sits locked in a cage. There is none of the fear one might expect in his expression. Instead, he seems mysterious, with an irresistible allure...

The guards rush in and collapse in a heap: “Damn it! Where did this cage come from!?”

Da Sheng, looking obedient: “I locked myself in. I’m so helpless.”

Reader’s guide:

The male lead is a disaster.

The world is real, not a game.

The story is my take on an infinite-flow narrative.

Contains mild horror, my take on Lovecraftian horror, and indescribable elements.
