They Ended Up at the Crematorium, but I'm Done Playing Along

Gu Juehan is a born winner, a lofty flower on an unreachable peak.

Ye Handan is a notorious good-for-nothing playboy in their circle. He spent three whole years desperately chasing after Gu Juehan.

Just when everyone thought it would never happen, Gu Juehan married Ye Handan in a spectacular wedding of the century.

He indulged Ye Handan in everything, catering to his every whim. Every day, he drove him to work without fail, and was home by ten at night.

When Ye Handan fell ill, Gu Juehan, who had always been afraid of heights, went bungee jumping from a sacred mountain 3,119 meters high to pray for his recovery.

Ye Handan had always been spoiled and temperamental, and Gu Juehan's pampering only made him more and more unreasonable. Ye Handan thought he and Gu Juehan would stay together until their silver and golden anniversaries.

Then a young man who looked eight-tenths like him returned from abroad, and Ye Handan suddenly understood why Gu Juehan had indulged him time and again.

Autumn rain filled the pond to the brim.

That year, Gu Juehan asked for a divorce.

Everyone in their circle waited for a show. They thought that with Ye Handan's temper, he'd cause a huge scene and turn the place upside down.

Instead, everyone saw Ye Handan lower his eyes to borrow a light in the dance hall, the glow catching his astonishingly beautiful face. A crowd of admirers gathered around him, and they heard him chuckle. "You mean Gu Juehan? He used to keep such a tight leash on me. I got sick of it a long time ago."

Only Ye Handan knew that three years ago, he had dreamed that Gu Juehan would bring someone home and then leave him.

He had cried, thrown a fit, and even threatened him. "If you dare leave me, I'll kill you."

When he received the divorce papers three years later, Ye Handan remembered how ridiculous he had been all those years. He gave a quiet laugh, let it all go, and signed his name. "Bye. I'm done playing."

The more they once hated him, the more they would later love him from afar, unable to reach him.

The one who got away comes back for his love.
