The Jade Court Case

Gu Baiqing, formerly a Vice Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, was exiled to Lingnan for three years after seeking justice for the people and offending the Qinghe Cui clan. Thanks to his role in solving the case of the missing tax silver, he was appointed magistrate of Anle County. As luck would have it, he ran into Xue Yutang, whom he had grown up with.

The two of them are a strange pair. Though they grew up together, they have never gotten along. Every time they meet, they act like cats and dogs, each finding fault with the other. Gu Baiqing still has no idea what Xue Yutang dislikes about him. Even after three years apart, they are still at each other's throats, trading barbs as soon as they meet.

Gu Baiqing is upright by nature, while Xue Yutang is smooth and calculating. They are complete opposites. Gu Baiqing thinks they are simply not cut out to be together, but Xue Yutang is shamelessly persistent, following him wherever he goes and refusing to be shaken off. Still, they make a good team, complementing each other when solving cases.

Strange cases abound amid the turbulent currents of the Great Tang. What other secrets are hidden behind them?
