Can’t a Pretty, Sweet A Be Marked?

[Childhood friends, Enigma seme x Alpha uke]

Yu Bai is a darling little beauty who is adored by everyone. His parents dote on him, his older siblings give him all the best food and toys, and his teachers and classmates love him. Even the particularly handsome Beta boy next door often comes over to tease him, eat and sleep with him, and tell him stories.

Later, even after he differentiates as a top-tier Alpha, he's still everyone's favorite. But the Beta boy he loves most stops paying attention to him. He tugs at his older brother's sleeve, looking pitiful.

"Don't ignore me, big brother."

"I'll eat less from now on."

"You can have all my pocket money."

But in the end, his Beta big brother still turns and walks away.

Not long after, Yu Bai experiences his first heat. Complications from his differentiation leave him allergic to all Omega pheromones and prone to strange stress reactions.

In the isolation ward, he sits curled up in a corner.

The person he hasn't seen in ages appears again, giving off pheromones that smell of bamboo leaves warmed by sunshine. The whole ward fills with that fresh scent, with a hint of cozy warmth.

For once, he has no stress reaction at all. He is even soothed with ease.

That person crouches in front of him and ruffles his hair. "Will you bite?"

He blinks his moist, almond-shaped eyes and shakes his head.

The next time, that person asks again whether he'll bite.

He thinks it over, then puts his fingertip in his mouth and gently bites down, looking up with glistening eyes.

And then... he gets marked.

[Some original worldbuilding]

Enigma:

1. Can foresee the secondary gender of someone on the verge of differentiating.

2. Can choose their own secondary gender.

O-Enigma (always the bottom, as powerful as a top-tier Alpha)

A-Enigma (always the top, can mark anyone except themselves, and can reverse an Alpha's reproductive functions to make them pregnant)
