Disguised as a Man to Take the Imperial Exam

Gu Wenyu was born into an ancient world and became the daughter of a man who had spent his whole life taking the imperial exams without ever passing the provincial level.

To fulfill her father's unachieved dream, Gu Wenyu disguised herself as a man and set off for the capital to sit the exams.

It was her first time traveling far from home. Everything fascinated her, and she even became sworn brothers with someone who was also heading to the capital to take the exams.

Unfortunately, luck was not on their side. A murder took place just after they set out, they ran into a shady inn when they stopped for the night, and they encountered a pickpocket on the street.

When the killer came, he slipped on a banana peel and fell, stabbing himself in the chest.

The knockout incense from the shady inn was scattered when Xiaoxiao blocked its path with her hand, and the innkeeper ended up drugging himself.

Gu Wenyu chased the pickpocket for three whole streets. He eventually ran out of steam, failed to get any money, and had to pay for the damage he caused to the roadside stalls.

Word of Gu Wenyu, the bandit-slaying champion, spread among the county magistrates. Whenever they saw her, they knew a chance to improve their records had just arrived.

When they reached the capital, Gu Wenyu and her sworn brother promised to meet again after their names appeared on the imperial examination list.

She passed every test along the way, became a successful candidate in both examination lists, and rose straight to the emperor's attention.

It was a shame about her sworn brother. He was widely read, but she searched both the main and supplementary lists and could not find his name anywhere.

But at the imperial court audience, how could the person seated on the dragon throne look exactly like her sworn brother?

There he was, seated above her, his gaze fixed on her...

The palace was thrown into turmoil. The Prince of Yongan took advantage of the Crown Prince's trip south to control the floods and planned to kill him and seize the throne.

But the assassins he sent kept failing.

A message from one of his death warriors arrived by carrier pigeon: there was a landslide by the Crown Prince's side.

That man buried every assassin who came, whether they came alone or in a group.

The Prince of Yongan refused to give up and entered the game himself. He failed to kill the Crown Prince, but ended up losing his heart to the Crown Prince's friend.

How strange. When did he become a man who loved men?
