A Gourmet System, but with a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine [The Nineties]

After her older brother and sister-in-law passed away, all that was left to Fang Bu Ling, a young woman from a small town, was a shabby little clinic, a mother bedridden with illness, and a baby crying to be fed.

The good news: she got a System!

The bad news: she was bound to a food System.

Still an apprentice, Fang Bu Ling faced the patient before her as a prompt appeared in her mind:

[Knife Skills Tip: The joint is dislocated. You can cut here to quickly separate the ingredients.]

Without batting an eye, Fang Bu Ling calmly said, "You've dislocated it. Look, there's a plane!"

While the patient looked up at the sky, she used the ingredient-preparation techniques she'd learned to pop the joint back into place.

Patient: "Hey, it's better! And that old problem where my legs sometimes clicked when I walked is gone, too."

Using the four diagnostic methods of traditional Chinese medicine: inspection, listening and smelling, inquiry, and palpation, Fang Bu Ling faced the person before her and said, "Let me see your tongue."

The System prompted: [Ingredient freshness: The tongue coating is white, and the tongue's surface has fine, dense granules, indicating significant dampness. When cooking, add ginger and onion to dispel the dampness. Not suitable for long-term use...]

Fang Bu Ling automatically ignored the cooking instructions that followed. "Your spleen deficiency has caused internal phlegm-dampness. I'll prescribe you a Liujunzi Decoction. Just take it as directed."

After a few doses, the patient worked in the fields with renewed vigor and could easily put away three big bowls of rice at every meal.

A child couldn't stop coughing and thought every medicine tasted bitter. But the medicine Fang Bu Ling prescribed made him grin. "Mom, it's sweet!"

Fang Bu Ling smiled. She had the food System to thank for that prompt while preparing the medicine: [The honey added so far will make the food taste sweet and fresh. The optimal heat level has been set for the Host. Cooking is complete, and a delicious flavor has been added.]

Before long, the name of the little miracle doctor Fang Bu Ling had spread throughout the town.

At first, everyone said, "Is she for real? She's just a young girl. Traditional Chinese medicine is better in the hands of an old practitioner!"

Later, they asked, "Is Doctor Fang seeing patients today?"

The answer: "Don't ask, just go! The most famous old Chinese medicine doctor in the country is there, asking Doctor Fang to treat his chronic illness!"

Theme: Food and medicine are both arts of healing.
