Has the General Ascended to Immortality Today?

Ji Wujue was born in troubled times. He met a worthy ruler, received a general's seal, and campaigned north and south until he finally united the realm.

But though his achievements eclipsed all others, the king grew suspicious of him, and he ultimately met his end with his spirit destroyed and body gone.

Reborn one day, Ji Wujue returned to the age of twenty-five.

But he was tired. He no longer wanted to overthrow the court. All he wanted was to die and put an end to his miserable life.

But why?

The emperor who would one day kill him looked at him with concern and care.

The court officials who had always mocked him called him brother and spoke to him gently.

The subordinates who would one day betray him were willing to serve as his vanguard.

When he wanted these things, he couldn't have them. Now that he didn't want them, these people offered them up willingly. What was wrong with them?

Until that day,

when the eastern sky brightened, golden light shimmered, and immortal music drifted through the air,

someone stood waiting atop the clouds, waiting for him to understand the mortal world and ascend to immortality.

Ji Wujue suddenly understood why he had been reborn.

As a wandering cultivator,

Tan Yunjian had once protected a lonely, helpless child and met a spirited young general.

He had read the man's fate, foreseeing that he would become a king or lord, feasting from bronze cauldrons and enjoying incomparable wealth and status.

But the man would die at twenty-nine, without even a grave to mark his resting place.

After his death, the princes rebelled, foreign invaders crossed the borders, and war broke out anew.

The people suffered terribly, with no means to make a living.

Tan Yunjian spent a thousand years of cultivation and turned his immortal body and bones into a mortal one, pouring his heart and soul into turning back time. He did it neither for the Three Realms nor for all living beings.

He did it only for the friendship he had found by chance with that noble man.

Only for that unspoken flicker of love.
