Plants Descend

Cen Zijin is an award-winning actor active in film, television, and theater. He usually wears a cold expression and picks fights with everyone, earning him the nickname Frost Archer.

One day, he got home and found a private message on his secret Weibo account.

"Hello, Frost Archer. I'm Little Shroom, special envoy from Planet B973."

Cen Zijin: "How did you find my secret account?"

"The planet has received your information receipt, and I've been assigned to contact you. In three minutes, I'll log into Earth from your location."

Cen Zijin: "Wow, stalkers sure are getting creative."

"Transmission program loading. As I didn't pass my Earth culture assessment, I'll be data-linked to you for the time being. I look forward to working with you."

Cen Zijin: "You're insane. Have you lost your mind?"

Cen Zijin gave the sender an earful, then sent a meme saying, "Bet you can't crawl through the internet and hit me!"

The reply: OK.

Three minutes later, someone crawled out through his home internet connection.

Three hours later, after taking the visitor on a tour of the Interstellar Administration Bureau, Cen Zijin found himself with an alien mushroom.

The mushroom was incredibly fussy. The light couldn't be too bright or too dim, and the water couldn't be too acidic or too salty. Every day, it hid under his umbrella and said strange things:

"Plants should help each other."

"It's raining, Cen Zijin. Let's grow together in each other's arms."

"Won't you kiss me? I can share the dew I've saved up with you."

"Don't be jealous. An overly acidic environment is bad for your health."

Cen Zijin considered himself a straight as an arrow kind of guy. How could he stand all this clingy sweetness? Every day, he hoped the mushroom would finish its mission and hurry back to its planet.

Then one day, the mushroom he'd brought home disappeared, leaving a roomful of spores behind.

Wen Gu: "Sorry to bother you. It seems you're not the Frost Archer I'm looking for. You can keep these children as a gift."

Cen Zijin didn't sleep all night. The next day, the actor, who hadn't posted in eight hundred years, suddenly put up a Weibo post:

"Hello, everyone. I'm terribly sorry to have kept this from you for so long. I'm actually an alien. My true form is a pea, and my wife is a beautiful mushroom. If anyone sees him, please tell him that the children and I are waiting for him to come home."
