The villagers said, “You call that a pit of misery? I’d gladly jump into ten pits like that.”

Fang Zichen was delighted to raise his son. When his classmates saw the boy, they always praised him, saying, “Your son looks just like you.”

At first, Fang Zichen didn’t think much of it. But when his stepson turned six, he grew more and more handsome, and the more Fang Zichen looked at him, the more familiar he seemed.

Before Fang Zichen could ask Zhao Ge’er what was going on, he accidentally learned that Zhao Ge’er had always had a beloved white moonlight in his heart, someone he still couldn’t forget after all these years. Fang Zichen was only a stand-in.

Fang Zichen: “...”

Zhao Ge’er, you’ve got to be kidding me.

Fang Zichen left a divorce letter and decisively ran away with the child. Little did he know that in the capital, Zhao Ge’er clutched the letter, his eyes red, and spat up blood.

He chased his husband for a thousand miles, then had his men corner Fang Zichen in an outhouse.

“Either you come home with me, or I’ll drown you in this cesspit.”

Qin Wentian said, “I’d rather top a sow than you.”

After Qin Wentian joined the family, the Ye household was in chaos. They nearly tore the house down.

Old Man Ye wiped away his tears and said to his husband, “You can’t force a melon to be sweet. We should send Xiaotian back!” Just then, Ye Xiaoliu rushed in from outside and kicked the door open. Fearing the young couple had started fighting, the two elders were about to intervene when they heard Ye Xiaoliu say in a sweet, docile voice, “Darling, why did you take so long? I missed you.”

“Then let me kiss you.”

“You’re so naughty~”

Old Man Ye shuddered. “...”

Qin Wentian had been reading web novels for decades, and lately he was hooked on stories about ge’er. Most of them were about scumbag semes who abused their poor ukes in every possible way. Then an accident happened, and a modern man’s soul transmigrated into the scumbag’s body. The scumbag turned over a new leaf, fell in love with the poor, obedient uke at first sight, pampered him endlessly, helped him start a business and make money or pass the imperial exams, and eventually reached the peak of life.

Or a modern uke’s soul transmigrated into the body of a penniless ge’er in ancient times. Using modern knowledge, the uke started a business and won the favor of a young master, a prince, or even the crown prince. Then the couple fought their battles together, and once they won, they lived happily ever after.

Before bed, Qin Wentian would always daydream. He was good at all sorts of things, from farming and running a stall to harvesting grain. If he ever transmigrated, all he wanted was a soft, sweet little husband. That would be perfect.

And then he really did transmigrate.
