Inscription Beneath the Umbrella

Dust gathered before the Buddha statue, only to be swept away and settle again. The chanting stopped, then began once more. Xuan Ming struck the wooden fish three times, haltingly, when he suddenly heard the faint patter of rain outside the door.

In the rain, there seemed to be a bright, delicate girl's voice, crisp as a green plum in May.
