After the Mistress of a Noble Household Became a Nun

[Tentative synopsis. I'll revise it a little before I start writing, but the basic idea won't change.]

As soon as Yu Yaoyao transmigrated, people tried to force her to die as a sacrifice for her husband.

Their reasoning was that her husband had died in battle, sacrificing his life for his country. Yu Yaoyao had previously used every trick in the book to become the Duchess of An Guo. Now it was time for her to fulfill her duty.

Faced with the aggressive people of the Duke of An Guo's household, Yu Yaoyao slightly furrowed her delicate brows and lowered her eyes. Her voice was so faint it seemed ready to vanish in the wind. "It is only right."

She coughed twice, her slender, pale fingers gripping the doorframe. "But I dreamed of my husband last night. He said it was cold underground and asked me to visit Lingyin Temple and light an everlasting lamp for him."

After hearing this, the old madam paused with her cane, suddenly realizing that Yu Yaoyao had a point.

So early the next morning, a team of carriages hurried Yu Yaoyao off to Lingyin Temple.

By evening, news arrived that His Majesty the Emperor, troubled by the death of the Duke of An Guo, had gone to Lingyin Temple to clear his mind. There, he unexpectedly encountered the bereaved Duchess of An Guo and ordered her to become a nun at the temple, praying for the blessings of the common people.

Yu Yaoyao knew all too well what kind of morally bankrupt book she'd transmigrated into.

In the original story, the female lead hadn't schemed her way into becoming the Duchess of An Guo at all. She was the one who was seized by force, and it happened to her several times over.

The original female lead was first forced to become the Duchess of An Guo, then forced to become a nun, forced to die, and forced to change her name and identity, eventually becoming a consort in the imperial palace.

But before she could settle into her position as a consort, the crown prince staged a coup. The former emperor became the retired emperor, while she remained a consort.

The entire book read like someone had written it just for fun, steeped in old-fashioned tropes.

There's another part to come. I'll write it when I think of it...
