A Grandfather, His Grandchild, and a Dog Become Famous Farming and Feasting on a Variety Show

Folks, I’m putting this story on hold for now. I’m sorry, everyone…

The large-scale family variety show My Family Has Kids features 100 families competing in an elimination format. The most popular family can win five million.

Four-year-old Tong Le’s father had an affair before he was born, and his mother remarried. The only ones he has to rely on are his grandpa and a dog.

At first, viewers said: [Tong Le’s family is so quiet and lonely. It’s heartbreaking to watch. They’ll be eliminated soon.]

Later: [Aaaah! Little Tong Le, his grandpa, and the dog are all my treasures!]

During filming, the other kids show off their toy cars in front of Tong Le.

Viewers: Oh no, Tong Le is definitely going to cry. His family can’t afford toys.

Until the old carpenter, Grandpa Tong, works through the night to make a three-car wooden train. Little Tong Le takes the dog out for a ride, while a crowd of kids scramble to get a seat in the third car. The kid who was showing off his car runs home in tears, crying, “Mom, I want Tong Le’s train too!” The viewers: ...

The kids show off to one another, bragging that they’ve eaten ice cream, egg tarts, and KFC.

Viewers: So pitiful. Tong Le’s family is just one kid, one man, and one dog. What could they possibly have to eat?

Until little Tong Le runs home, and Grandpa Tong immediately slaughters a chicken and a duck. Lotus-leaf chicken and eight-treasure duck are served on the table. After the other kids try his cooking, they keep telling their families that Grandpa Tong’s food is still the best.

But the dog bristles and guards the chicken and duck. These are for my little master and my old master. You can’t have any.

The viewers:

[I want to transmigrate into little Tong Le. I want a Grandpa Tong and a big dog like hers too.]

[Please keep filming Tong Le and his family forever. I could watch them forever!]

Later, little Tong Le watches Grandpa receive the prize money and asks, “Grandpa, Hu and the others say five million is a lot. Is it as many as the stars?”

Theme: Live well and grow up happily
