[Western Crossover] The Witch of Gotham

[Western Crossover] Just Another Gotham Wage Slave Passing Through, Ongoing

Hypatia was a witch who had slept for several centuries. One day, someone dug up her grave and tossed her into a Lazarus Pit. When she woke, all she wanted was to bury herself again and go back to sleep.

"I guess you're a witch." The red-date spirit responsible for all this stroked his chin as he examined her.

But later, he discovered that she seemed to be much better at physical attacks than witchcraft. So what happened to the witch he was promised?

Still, it wasn't a big problem. She could learn something else.

Gotham had simple, honest folk and a wonderful sense of community. Hypatia couldn't agree more, and promptly decided to join in.

So she got up to all kinds of trouble: stirring the pot, stabbing people in the back, switching sides, poisoning people, setting fires, and stuffing people into sacks.

In her spare time, she suddenly took notice of the Court of Owls, a group that had long been part of Gotham's legends.

"I suspect I might have some connection to them." She held up a feather that had fallen from her wing.

"...But the Court of Owls isn't actually made up of owls!" The red-date spirit's face was impossible to read, but the sound of grinding teeth came from beneath his cowl:

"Maybe you should explain why you broke three of my ribs first?"

The witch's gaze darted all over the place. "We're not connected anymore... How about you bury me again first?"

"Hey, tell me, why do you keep refusing to die?" The blond occult detective burped after a drink.

Clutching a bottle, the witch's gaze wandered. "Obviously, so I can have a handsome guy sit on my lap."

She looked up and happened to meet the eyes of a certain 200-pound tank who'd come looking for her. Drunkenly, she gave a whistle:

"Hey, handsome!"

The female lead is a witch, but she didn't turn into an owl. She just has a few owl parts.

Pairing is with Bats.

#The witch lore is a bit eclectic. The owl portion was inspired by Song of the Sea. In Gaelic, owl can mean "witch of the night" (Cailleach Oíche).

#There may be some out-of-character moments and original settings. The author has eaten the timeline, which is extremely chaotic, even more chaotic than my life plans. Please don't flame me if you don't like it.

#A reminder: reading is just a seasoning for life. If you don't like it, please stop reading. Let's respect each other. "Bows!"

#Please try not to mention other authors or their works in the comments here. Likewise, don't mention me in other people's comment sections. Let's build a harmonious comment section together.

#The protagonist's values do not represent the author's.

[Main story complete. Extra chapters will appear from time to time. The cover is the female lead's character design sketch, posted here for everyone to have a look.]

A coming-soon work: The Many-Layered Schemes of Making a Living in the Secret Church

If you asked Natska what she dreamed of doing for a living, she'd answer without hesitation: being a school nurse at a high school.

And if she had to settle?

A high school librarian.

What if she had to settle even more?

Working as a librarian at the library donated by the Wayne family in Gotham, just like she does now.

No permanent position, low pay, three days on and four days off, no insurance.

She spends her days slacking off and writing gossip pieces for publication, then dances at the Iceberg Lounge at night.

Now and then, she makes time to be Bruce Wayne's lover on the side and asks the tabloids for a cut of the profits.

Every so often, she also has to dig up a few underground-world "SCI papers" to keep in touch with her patron.

Wondering where her sugar daddy went? Oh, he turned into 49 gold coins.

Shh, don't let anyone find out!

Just some career fantasies from an author being ground down by an internship :)

#No idea who the pairing will be. She might very well marry her career :)
