Game Developer in Another World

[Complete! Please leave a five-star review. Love you all!] Game designer Xie Yunfan transmigrates to another world and becomes a down-on-his-luck young master. His parents died in a car accident, his older brother attempted suicide, and the company is on the verge of bankruptcy. From the start, he’s been dealt a terrible hand. The most popular games of this era, Starry Sky Walk, Mecha Apprentice, and Zombie Siege, are all about mecha and the apocalypse. Humanity is either going extinct or on the way to extinction. Xie Yunfan: “Where’s my five thousand years of Chinese civilization? I’m making games!” * Single-player game Underworld Maze: a lifelike depiction of the Eighteen Levels of Hell. Would you like to give it a try? Mystery game Detective Di Renjie: solve cases online, where everyone can be a little detective. Who’s the culprit? What do you think? Rhythm game Music of the Soul: guzheng, pipa, erhu, and every other traditional instrument take the stage. Enjoy classical melodies passed down for a thousand years, and the delight of finding a kindred spirit through music. It’s the perfect way to relax. You play post-apocalyptic mechanical cities in wastelands? We’re building in a classical style: Suzhou gardens, Jiangnan water towns, and a Tang Dynasty city that never sleeps! Dress-up games are getting too competitive? Why not try dressing up in hanfu? Beautiful traditional outfits from every dynasty can flourish in another world, too. Travel back to ancient times and fall in love with handsome men. Ladies, raise your husbands and start drawing cards~ A knife, a sword, and one person’s journey through the martial world. Wuxia battles with every punch and kick landing, light-footed leaps across the water, and all kinds of martial arts manuals will give you a whole new experience of the jianghu. Become a top chef, explore the Eight Great Cuisines, and run your own business. Did your restaurant lose money today? The Art of War, the Thirty-Six Stratagems, and thrilling war games on a strategic map: let the players forge alliances and pit their wits against one another. Exorcise demons, journey west to seek the scriptures, and face eighty-one trials. Who will clear the game first? A cultivation academy, sword-riding flight, and battles between immortals and demons: even cooler than mecha combat! * Mazes, mysteries, war games, otome games, business simulators, wuxia, cultivation… Before he knew it, Xie Yunfan had become the most popular game developer in another world. “Anything Mr. Xie designs is an instant buy!” “Open the in-game store already! I want to spend everything on this game!” “Your faithful player is willing to lose ten pounds, just for one five-star card of my husband!” “Need a healer for the dungeon party, 4=1!” “Have you ascended today? I’m still stuck on the tribulation quest.” 1. A feel-good story about making games: Xie Yunfan creates quality games in another world and promotes traditional Chinese culture. This story uses the familiar “lost culture” setting often found in otherworldly feel-good novels. If you don’t like this sort of setting, please move on. Don’t argue about the worldbuilding. Thank you. 2. All the games in this story are original creations by the author. [Content note] The protagonist is a game designer and tries many genres, including mazes, music, dress-up, cultivation, wuxia, food, and otome. The sixth volume, A Thousand Years of Love, is an otome game, and it’s 50,000 words long. The entire novel is over 1.2 million words, and the otome game makes up less than 5% of it. Feel free to skip that volume if you don’t like it. 3. An imaginative career-focused story with little romance. The pairing is Luo Hang, with mutual affection and devotion. Happy ending. 4. Thanks for your support, everyone. I promise to finish what I start. There are also plenty of completed novels on my profile. Theme: Whatever you do, do it with integrity and sincerity. Making games is no exception.
