A Rose Fairy Tale

[The blurb was swapped with the one next door. The premise wasn't working, so I have to scrap and rewrite this book's 90,000 words of drafts. I'm putting it on hold for now. I'm very sorry.]

A transfer student arrives at Xiacheng No. 1 High School. Rumor has it she transferred from a top provincial school and has excellent grades.

This model student is assigned to sit next to Jiang Yan.

Everyone at Xiacheng No. 1 High School knows that Jiang Yan is unruly and arrogant, the school's undisputed top dog, and firmly in last place in his grade.

The students also whisper that Jiang Yan hates model students with good grades more than anything.

So everyone feels terribly sorry for the transfer student.

Jiang Yan assumes his new deskmate is a goody-goody who does nothing but study, and looks down on her.

To his surprise, at their very first meeting, this "new deskmate" corners him outside the restroom of an internet cafe.

His new deskmate has vivid pink hair and a beautiful, expressionless face. She stares at him and says, one word at a time:

"Classmate," she says. "It's been six days since school started. Don't you think you should show up at least once?"

Jiang Yan lazily looks up, his voice languid. "Who are you?"

Shen Yuchu replies coolly, "I'm your new deskmate. The homeroom teacher specifically told me to keep an eye on you. I hope you know what's good for you."

Young Master Jiang: "...Are you telling me what to do?"

I thought you were only good at studying, but you're even more arrogant than me?

-

Everyone thinks Jiang Yan and Shen Yuchu are sworn enemies.

Until one day, the class monitor, who stayed behind after evening study, discovers their secret.

The unruly boy grabs Shen Yuchu by the wrist and pins her against the corner of a wall.

"Shen Yuchu, you said you'd agree to my request if I got first place in our grade."

He gently brushes the blushing girl's lips with his thumb, then smiles softly, his voice carefree.

"So, Shen, do you want to practice kissing with me now?"
