As the daughter of the richest family in City A, Jiang Liqing had been a pampered darling since childhood, with everything going her way.

When Jiang Liqing was sixteen, she met a boy.

The boy was cornered in an alley, covered in wounds, looking like a miserable stray dog.

Out of a sudden fit of kindness, Jiang Liqing took him home.

The boy was gloomy, cold, and taciturn. Just a few days after bringing him home, Jiang Liqing lost interest and promptly forgot all about him.

But Jiang Liqing didn't know that, where she couldn't see, the boy's gaze always followed her.

Restrained yet obsessive.

On the night after the college entrance exams ended, Jiang Liqing confessed to the senior student she'd secretly loved for two years. The two stole a kiss by the stairwell.

Jiang Liqing nervously clutched the senior's uniform, unaware that the boy had witnessed the scene.

The boy watched Jiang Liqing's flushed, passion-filled face without a flicker of emotion. His nails dug deep into his flesh, and his palms were slick with blood.

Not long afterward, the boy left without a word.

The family servants told her about it.

Jiang Liqing didn't think much of it. She waved her hand dismissively and said, "It's fine. Just think of it as the dog I raised going home."

When Jiang Liqing was twenty-two, the Jiang family went bankrupt overnight, her father was thrown into prison, and she went from a pampered heiress to the biggest laughingstock in City A's high society.

With her mother gravely ill and no other options, Jiang Liqing had to agree to marry the second young master of the Cheng family, who was willing to help the Jiangs. An unexpected guest appeared at the engagement banquet.

Someone recognized the uninvited guest as the hottest new business tycoon in City A, whose star had recently been on the rise.

The man radiated a chill. Beneath his black coat, his face was cool and aristocratic.

When the power suddenly went out, Jiang Liqing, trying on her engagement dress, had no choice but to lift her skirt and go find her fiance.

She had only just reached the doorway when she crashed into a stranger's arms.

Jiang Liqing was stunned and tried to speak, but the man cut her off.

"Shh." The man's voice was hoarse. "Don't speak."

In the darkness, the man slowly pulled off his black leather gloves and grasped her chin with his icy fingers.

"Who are you?" Jiang Liqing asked, her voice trembling slightly beneath the man's intensely possessive gaze.

"I'm the good dog you raised." The man's icy kiss fell on her trembling lips.

"He's been waiting for this day for a very long time."
