Pear Blossoms Fragrant Across the Land

[Blurb]

At the market, a rich young wastrel strolling with a birdcage kicks over a broken bowl.

Once he has steadied himself, he looks down and sees a slender, delicate hand clutching his ankle. Even covered in dust, it is clearly a beautiful hand.

The woman raises her head and gazes up at him timidly, tears still on her face. She is both fresh and radiant, so pitifully lovely, like a pear blossom reflected in spring water.

Her plain white mourning clothes accentuate her slender waist and delicate shoulders. Those crescent-shaped eyes gaze straight at him, soft and alluring, as if she were made of water.

Later, he hears that the woman has died of illness. Heartbroken, the wastrel turns over a new leaf and rebuilds his family business.

One day, the autumn wind blows bitterly.

A glinting blade is right before his eyes. The wastrel closes his eyes in resignation and waits to die.

Clang. The sound of weapons clashing rings out above his head, but the pain he expected never comes.

He opens his eyes, relieved yet disbelieving. The black veil covering the woman who saved him slowly drifts to the ground.

The woman, dressed in black with her hair tied up, handles the chaos with ease. She looks exactly like the person he has thought of day and night, the one he believed was dead!

Well, what a coincidence.
