The Crown Prince Is Drooling with Desire

As a high-ranking official, Song Yunci roots out corrupt ministers and sets the empire in order. Emperor Chengqian is foolish, suppressing the Crown Prince and allowing the princes to fight for power.

Song Yunci is determined to set the Crown Prince on the right path, protect her identity as a woman disguised as a man, and live in peace. Then she’ll retire to her hometown and enjoy a quiet life to the end.

Their bond as ruler and subject grows deeper by the day. They sleep in the same bed and are inseparable.

The elderly Grand Tutor senses the Crown Prince’s secret feelings and brings up the matter without a fuss. “Choosing a Crown Princess is urgent. Tell me, what sort of person do you like?”

The Crown Prince raises an eyebrow. “Is there anyone like Academician Song?”

“Ridiculous!” The Grand Tutor is so startled his heart nearly stops.

After the Crown Prince ascends the throne, Song Yunci suddenly falls gravely ill and resigns to return home.

The new emperor is beside himself with worry and rushes thousands of miles to find the person who was supposed to be bedridden, only to see her in all her graceful beauty through the mist rising from the water.

Without giving himself away, he watches from above in the shadows, his eyes narrowed in a sinister smile. “What a fine Mr. Song!”

Song Yunci sneezes in the warm water, feeling a chill at the back of her neck.

Not long afterward, an urgent secret letter arrives from the palace. The new emperor has fallen ill from grief, is said to have little time left, and the court is in turmoil while the people suffer.

Song Yunci forgets all about her excuse of being gravely ill and sets out in the middle of the night, heading straight for the palace gates.

The bedchamber is dark and quiet. A pair of phoenix eyes watches from the shadows, narrowing slightly at the corners. “In the end, you couldn’t let me go.”
