A Ghost Story

An old story, newly revised. I'm writing a short story, with revisions underway as of September 10, 2025:

Blurb:

I died and became a ghost.

But there was someone I hated with all my heart. He was still alive, so I couldn't rest easy and reincarnate.

The Judge took pity on me and let me go.

In my third year wandering the mortal world, a very handsome man picked me up and took me home.

One day, I suddenly remembered that he was the very person I hated so much.

But by then it was too late, because I had started to like him.

So I dated the person I hated while secretly meeting the Judge beneath the moon.

Our secret meetings went like this: the Judge urged me to reincarnate, I refused, he urged me again, and then I was about to cuss him out...

For some reason, after every secret meeting with the Judge, Shen Zhou would look unhappy, his face dark.

It was strange, because I was certain he didn't know I was meeting the Judge.

Then one day, I woke up in Shen Zhou's arms and saw that his face had turned into the Judge's.

Me: "..."

*

From the Judge's perspective:

I died and became a ghost.

But there was someone I loved with all my heart. He was still alive, so I couldn't rest easy and reincarnate.

So I became the new Judge.

One day, I brought my beloved home.
