Winning His Heart

One afternoon in May, Lingxiao Middle School was celebrating its hundredth anniversary.

Students from all six middle and high school grades filled the sports field and plaza. Nearly ten thousand people gathered beneath the sun, and the place was bustling with activity.

Class monitors wearing armbands moved through the crowd, passing along messages. "Quiet down, line up, and get ready for the broadcast exercises!"

"Okay, okay." The students answered while squeezing in a few last whispered conversations.

"Xue Na's leading the exercises. Her outfit is so pretty. All we get to wear is our uniforms."

"Can't be helped. She's the school beauty, and our uniforms are already pretty nice."

"Liver red with white? How is that pretty?"

"It is pretty! It's got that collegiate look. Look how handsome Chi Hao looks in it. He could be in a movie."
