[Updating steadily toward completion]
Lin Qi found a little snake beside a roadside trash can.
It was a gray-black corn snake, thrown away with its little plastic container and crawling out half-dead. Its scales were covered in mud and rainwater, and when it raised its tiny head, its golden eyes seemed to glare at her.
Unable to leave it there, she took it home.
Once home, the little snake ate and slept well and was good in every way, except that it was terribly jealous. It got jealous of everything that wasn't itself.
Lin Qi went to sleep cuddling a stuffed rabbit. The little snake bit a hole in its belly, scattering stuffing everywhere.
Whenever Lin Qi wore a bracelet or necklace, the little snake would bite through the thinnest part, as if it were the only one allowed to coil around her wrists and neck.
Lin Qi raised a virtual chick for a charity project, tapping the screen each day to feed it a little rice. The little snake got so angry it tried to bite through her phone screen.
Even the little potted tomatoes she grew weren't spared.
Then one day, the little snake turned into a person.
It turned into a person in the bathroom while she was bathing it.
A sweet romance!!
Teaser for my next frog story:
I'm Lily, the daughter of a country tailor. My biggest dream is to inherit my family's tailor shop and make all kinds of beautiful dresses.
Dante is the son of the drunk who lives at the very edge of the village. He's a little withdrawn, but incredibly talented, and his paintings are absolutely beautiful.
We grew up together as childhood friends, then went from naive boys and girls to young lovers, shy and sweet.
Dante was always so, so good to me, until a female painter from the city came to our village.
After coming out of Daisy's house, Dante spoke harshly to me for the first time. In a tone that made it sound as if he thought I was impossible to reason with, he said:
"Is this sewing machine really all you dream of? Do you know how big the world outside is? Lily, sometimes your narrow horizons make me feel like I can't breathe!"
Then he left me and disappeared completely. Everyone said he'd probably gone to the city with Daisy to make a name for himself.
One day, while I was making raspberry cake in the kitchen, I happened to find a sketch hidden behind the flour jar. It showed me smiling as I made a dress at the sewing machine.
My tears fell into the cake batter, one after another. Mom came in and asked in astonishment, "Sweetheart, why are you crying?"
I tilted my head back and sniffed. "I'm not crying, you are. Or maybe it's just raining. Yes, it's raining in our kitchen."
Mom probably thought I'd gone crazy.
Maybe I really had gone crazy. Otherwise, why would I see a frog drawing in the garden mud with its webbed feet?
Even crazier, I thought the way the frog gripped a dead branch with its little feet to draw looked just like him.

The main story is written in third person!
And here's the teaser for another lighthearted novella about a big dog:
Su Xixi's boyfriend is eighteen, a muscular athlete who's not the brightest, and he loves her to bits. He's also so energetic that she can't keep up. For example, one kiss can last for hours, and he can keep her from getting a full night's sleep for several nights in a row. When she's working from home, he sticks to her like a huge accessory.
Su Xixi finally couldn't take it anymore. She said to her boyfriend, "Could we spend a little time apart? I'm not breaking up with you. I just want you to let me be by myself for a few days."
The puppy-like boyfriend froze, his eyes turning red as he made a fierce declaration: "You're kicking me out? Fine, I'm leaving! If I'm the first one to come looking for you, I'm a dog!"
Three days later, someone pounded on Su Xixi's front door, though the sound was a little strange.
She opened it to find a huge dog of no discernible breed, its eyes unmistakably familiar, wagging its tail wildly at her with wet eyes:
"Woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof!"
As the dog barked, her boyfriend's voice sounded in her mind at the same time: "Wahhh, I've turned into a dog!"
