Turns Out I'm the Rules-Horror Story

After transmigrating into a world where the paranormal has begun to run rampant, Ye Yun opens an utterly ordinary book cafe. As business gradually takes off, he develops two minor headaches: 1. Psychic ability users are always trying to take the books, tableware, and even tables and chairs from his cafe; 2. The paranormal always show up with “their own tableware,” intending to eat his customers in front of everyone. Annoyed that they’re hurting his business, Ye Yun simply puts up a list of “Rules for Customers”: 0. Do not make things difficult for the owner. Not even by accident; 1. Do not take any of the cafe’s property outside, not even a speck of dust; 2. Do not bring your own tableware, and do not eat the customers; … n. The owner of the cafe, Ye Yun, has the final say in how these rules are interpreted. Ye Yun: “Customers must strictly obey the cafe’s rules. If anyone tries to test them, I won’t hesitate to make sure they’re never able to commit another offense :)” According to urban legend, there’s a peculiar book cafe in Xihe City. It’s at 31 Wumei Road. The owner has caramel-colored eyes and claims to be an utterly ordinary person. Yet his shop displays a set of “Rules for Customers” that come close to having the force of causality itself, binding every customer. Whether human or paranormal. A few desperate criminals once refused to believe the rumors and damaged the cafe’s property. The next day, people found them hanging from the ginkgo tree outside the shop. They had been turned into thin sheets of human skin, yet they were still mumbling, “Knowledge, how wonderful it is.” Of course, if you’re willing to order a drink and offer the owner some unique “stories,” he’ll generously answer your questions. Whether you’re human or paranormal. But remember: those who bargain with a god for the truth will become the truth itself. People say he is a god who walks among mortals, all-knowing and all-seeing. Ye Yun’s book cafe grows more and more famous, and countless people are fascinated by its possibly divine owner. As it happens, the god is fascinated too. The god descends into the mortal world and stands before Ye Yun. “I hear you’re the Star Abyss Lord’s incarnation walking among mortals?” Ye Yun only smiles, neither confirming nor denying it. The god’s gray-blue eyes linger on him. Its handsome face, disguised as human, breaks into a meaningful smile. “What a coincidence. I’m your first believer.” Reader’s Guide: 1. After revising the outline, I changed the title and blurb, but the central premise is unchanged; 2. It has a touch of cosmic horror and a light dose of the fourth natural disaster. The false-god storyline may appear a little later; 3. Although I’ve revised this two or three times, the subject matter and plot may still result in some bugs; 4. If you spot a bug, don’t panic. That’s normal. Please let the author know in the comments as soon as possible; 5. The author will address bugs as appropriate. If one isn’t fixed, it may be foreshadowing. That’s normal too; 6. There may be a lot of foreshadowing. That’s normal; 7. If you feel uncomfortable while reading, escape as soon as possible; 8. I’ll take time off if something comes up or I get sick; 9. I’ll add more if I think of anything. Message: Only through perseverance can we achieve success.
