Back to the Nineties: Research and Fortune

Next book: The Beautiful Sixties-Era Pilot Lost Her Memory

#Also known as Doing Research in a Male-Oriented Period Novel

After an unexpected awakening, Qin Baozhu discovered that she was a disposable female character in an old-school male-oriented wish-fulfillment novel, included to serve as a contrast to the idea that "a woman should be virtuous, not talented."

She had an IQ of 140, but during the crucial college entrance exam period, she devoted herself entirely to the male lead. When she couldn't win his love, she went mad. Not only did she ruin her own future, she also caused her older sister to marry down to a mama's boy, got both her parents laid off, and even lost the grandmother who loved her most. In the end, she lived a miserable life, old, alone, and homeless.

After awakening, Qin Baozhu: What, like I need your pathetic love?

When she opened her eyes again, she was back in high school in 1990. She should have fallen in love with the male lead at first sight and clung to him, but instead she threw herself into her studies and career.

While the male and female leads were busy cuddling up to each other, Qin Baozhu developed the country's first Chinese-language programming system and led programmers to the forefront of international technology.

When the male and female leads pledged themselves to each other for life, Qin Baozhu created powerful intelligent software that transformed the international market.

While the male lead gathered lackeys and started a business, Qin Baozhu kept developing new technologies, bringing the age of powerful global intelligence ahead of schedule.

Male lead: ...Something seems off.

Later on

People cheered for Academician Gu, who had finally won the heart of Qin Guobao after pursuing her for years. Only the male lead, watching Qin Baozhu enjoy success in both her career and love life, pretended not to care.

Male lead: Qin Baozhu? She's the woman I dumped.

The women who were supposed to be infatuated with him turned around: You think you're good enough?

The lackeys who were supposed to admire him scoffed: You think you're good enough!

Qin Baozhu: Studying hard, conducting research, leading the information age, and serving our country are everyone's responsibility.

Before Qin Guobao, everyone was memorizing ABC. After Qin Guobao, the whole world was learning Chinese, including the difference between retroflex and non-retroflex sounds!

Qin Mumu was the top female pilot of a twin-engine, single-wing aircraft. After a flight across the Pacific, she transmigrated into a story about major national projects in the 1960s.

The problem was that the moment she transmigrated into the book, she lost part of her memory.

In the book, Qin Mumu was a tragic supporting character. Her father drowned after exhausting himself while saving someone from drowning. Her mother raised Qin Mumu and her younger brother alone by doing odd jobs, but her brother also died young, unable to endure their impoverished life. When Qin Mumu was eight, her mother sent her to live with her paternal aunt as a companion for her studies. She was abused by the aunt's family, who also forced her, despite her excellent grades, to give up on taking the college entrance exam. But there was always a way forward. She enlisted and joined a preparatory aviation school, where she was assigned as a navigator. She thought things were finally going to get better, but during a flight exercise, her miscalculation of the wind angle caused the pilot to make a mistake and die in a crash.

Though the newly arrived Qin Mumu lost her memory on the spot, when faced with danger, she instinctively stepped outside her assigned role to save herself, violating flight regulations and earning a suspension from flying.

Qin Mumu was banned from the airfield and ordered to return to the ground training area to study flight theory alongside the male recruits.

The other cadets didn't think much of the demoted Qin Mumu. Her record as a navigator showed average grades and average courage, and everyone feared she would drag down the team and keep them from graduating.

Qin Mumu paid no attention to the rumors. She even applied for a double major in navigation and piloting.

Everyone: ???

She could do fine as a navigator and ground crew member, but she wanted to become a female captain too?!

Qin Mumu preferred to get things done rather than talk. She not only came first in both subjects, she also outlasted the men in military fitness training, proving herself an all-around talent.

Everyone: !!!

Qin Mumu, once the slowest learner on the team, who needed three times as long as everyone else to learn anything, had suddenly become a top student with exceptional aptitude. The explanation? Losing your memory can make you improve.

But Qin Mumu and the genius cadet Li Chen didn't get along at all.

Li Chen never spoke to Qin Mumu, while Qin Mumu broke every one of his records on the simulator exams. The reason? Jealousy makes people look ugly.

Until

One day, after seeing their marriage agreement, her memories struck her like lightning. Li Chen had been saved by her father, and that was why he and the original Qin Mumu were engaged. Every year, his parents and hers took turns bringing them to a photo studio to have their pictures taken and exchanged. Since the aviation school had a five-year dating ban, the two had been more than happy to treat each other with courtesy, but they were even more distant than ordinary comrades.

Just as the original Qin Mumu was about to graduate and join the military, preparing to host a farewell dinner, she arrived...

Remembering how she'd responded to Li Chen's various provocative looks, she: .

If she told him she'd really lost her memory, would he believe her...

Later, the two competed to become the top pilot. There was no distinction between men and women, only better flying! With her reputation for having eyes as accurate as a ruler, she performed one flawless special flight mission after another.

Her name as Huaguo's first female captain gradually spread around the globe, making her world-famous.

Later still, after a sea rescue mission, Li Chen crashed and went missing. She took care of his affairs as his fiancee and even attracted many admirers, but then he returned in a fury...
