Butterfly Garden

In the gallery corridor,

Su Ting stood before a dark-toned oil painting.

The girl in the painting had gentle, soft features. A white butterfly framed her, and she looked very much like Su Ting.

She sensed something dangerous in it,

as if she were being watched for no reason.

A gaze from behind fixed on her, pressing down until she could hardly breathe.

A chill ran down her spine.

Su Ting turned her eyes and glanced unintentionally at the man standing beside her. His profile was sharply defined, utterly cold.

Their eyes met. She saw a deep pool of shadowy water.

The man watched her in silence,

his gaze seeming to state wordlessly, “I found you.”

-

Not long afterward, Teacher Su Ting took leave to recuperate.

Su Ting took over her work, playing piano pieces regularly for a mysterious gentleman.

She entered the butterfly garden beneath a gloomy sky.

In the study, the man watched her with narrowed eyes. After gazing at her deeply, he spoke. “Yu Siyan.”

“My name.”

-

Yu Siyan suffered from a severe psychological disorder. In his dreams as a teenager,

the same scene repeated over and over: a girl with gentle features.

He developed a dark obsession.

Much later, he met the girl from his dreams in an art gallery, and his darkness could no longer be contained.

He broke a butterfly’s wings with his own hands.

-

It rained often in autumn, and Su Ting was sick for many days.

In the butterfly garden, many butterflies fell to the ground, soaked by the rain.

Yu Siyan held her in his arms by the window. She looked listless and ill.

After a long silence, Yu Siyan lowered his head and kissed her brow.

“Are you cold?” he asked.

Su Ting shook her head and unconsciously nestled closer to him, as if she depended on him completely.

It was all exactly what Yu Siyan had schemed to obtain.

Collect a butterfly and raise it in a greenhouse.

A naturally melancholy sweet girl x a controlling daddy

When she came of age,

Lici was found by her biological parents, who had already moved abroad.

After meeting her older brother and the fake heiress younger sister whom her parents favored more, she was sent to another old building.

Her parents told Lici to be obedient and docile, and not to anger Mr. Carion.

Lici looked up at the castle before her and obediently replied, “I’ll remember.”

-

Mr. Carion was an eccentric man.

At their first meeting, he sat on the sofa in an elaborate study.

Light and shadow divided the room, and his profile was shrouded in darkness. He looked aloof and distinguished. He raised his eyes to regard Lici, his pale irises catching the shadows in the light, his gaze calm and appraising.

Under Carion’s cool gaze, Lici lowered her eyes quietly.

She heard his calm, low voice. “Tell me your name.”

-

Lici always followed her parents’ instructions.

Until she was found after leaving with her older brother, Lici suffered a brief memory loss.

In the dim bedroom, Lici leaned against Carion, gazing blankly out the window.

The man behind her ran his hand over her long hair and asked softly, “Zhizhi wants to know what our relationship is?”

Lici’s pupils shifted slightly as she answered quietly, “It’s...”

She turned her face toward Carion. His breathing was clear beside her ear, and his voice was low and composed.

Carion: “We’re lovers.”

He gave a soft chuckle. “Zhizhi, remember that.”

Theme: That’s simply how the world works. It’s only natural.
