Cat Souls and Mouse Spirits

Si Yue Miao

Born on the third day of the eleventh lunar month in the Bingzi year

Though her zodiac sign is the Rat

In a previous life, she must have been a spirit cat

In this life, cultivating immortality and weathering tribulations

She had no choice but to be reborn as a rat

In her early teens, she met a tabby

One glance was enough to recognize a kindred soul

Si Yue Miao

A tabby cat lives inside her chest

With a proud spirit

And a clear-eyed soul

She unfurls her claws when no one's around

Holds her ground amid the flood

And, before the brilliance of the stars

Leaps without hesitation

Fearless

Si Yue Miao

Her soul is proud and untamed as a cat

Half its softness hidden in the warmth of everyday life

Half its coldness belonging to the mountains and rivers within

Cat Soul, Rat Spirit

Is about me

A rat's body, a cat's spirit

The struggle and stubbornness hidden in everyday life

The sensitivity and courage etched into the soul

Theme: A rat's body, a cat's spirit.
