The Sequel to The Bravest

After watching The Bravest at the cinema in 2019, the whole theater was in tears. My eyes were still swollen all weekend. Whatever flaws people point out in the film, whether in the acting or the logic of the plot, the emotions it stirred up back then can still tug at the softest part of my heart. While everyone was weeping over Jiang Liwei, played by Huang Xiaoming, sacrificing himself for the greater good, did anyone ever spare a thought for the young child waiting for him to come home?

"He went to a place very, very far away" is usually the gentlest way adults explain death to children. But as Jiang Miao, Jiang Liwei's son, grew up and began to understand the world, that "place very, very far away" became a thoroughly despicable lie. For years, he has carried the honor of being a "hero's son," but who could understand that all this child truly wants is a whole family?

Premise: A continuation of the movie...
