Dust Stop is a danmei xianxia novel with a tragic ending, and even some disturbing elements.

In the original story, the protagonist top is an aloof master, high above the rest, but also intensely possessive. He wishes he could chain his disciple by the foot and keep him under strict watch every hour of every day.

The protagonist bottom, meanwhile, is spoiled and has no idea of his place in the world. Resenting his master's discipline, he grows increasingly rebellious, until he runs away for five hundred years.

After five hundred years of clichéd drama in which "he runs, the other chases, and he can't escape," they finally reach the notorious locked-room scene readers love. Then, in his excitement, the protagonist top loses control and kills the bottom.

He has mixed feelings.

He used to love locked-room scenes. While Dust Stop was being serialized, he read those scenes over and over out of boredom, maybe a hundred times. He could recite how many times each position was used, what positions they used, and all the dirty things they said.
