[An idea I saved in January. I hid it before, but I still want to write it, haha. I'll leave it here and build up a list of advance readers. No idea when I'll start it.]
I'm an immortal who offended the Celestial Venerable.
The Celestial Venerable sent me down to the mortal realm to undergo trials, and assigned an immortal official to watch me through a heavenly mirror, constantly setting me impossible challenges.
I was given the fate of a born loner, and picked up from a mass grave by an evil fiend who had done every kind of wicked deed. He was the most powerful person in this world, the lord of the Demon Realm, ruthless and coldhearted.
He took me in because he recognized the fate I had been given. Amused, he made me his disciple, hoping to meet his death. He wanted to see whether the most powerful man in the world, hated by the righteous cultivators and attacked by them time and again without ever being defeated, could truly be cursed to death by this vague, intangible fate.
What could I say? He was a lunatic, and ordinary people couldn't follow a lunatic's way of thinking.
The immortal official watching over me declared, "Even if this fiend were reduced to ashes, he could never develop a kind heart."
The Celestial Venerable smiled at that. "Then make him kind. Make him the best person in the world. When he saves all living beings and becomes a Buddha, you can come back."
The fiend had a sworn enemy, a man blessed with abundant merit, gentle and compassionate, aloof yet full of pity. In spotless white, he seemed untouchable. He saved the people from great danger, yet despite living in this mortal world, he seemed untouched by worldly concerns.
Perfectly kind and perfectly cold, he protected all things beneath his sword, yet nothing could truly reach his heart.
The immortal official said again, "Even if this righteous cultivator saves countless people, he would never willingly enter the mortal world."
The Celestial Venerable waved a hand, unconcerned. "Then make him fall into the mortal world."
I sighed. The Celestial Venerable really hated me, insisting that I take on the impossible.
If I wanted to return to heaven, I had to find a way to turn the fiend from evil to good, and make the aloof immortal enter the world, like an ordinary person with a heart burning with passion.
But I really wanted to go back. My home was in heaven, along with the little fox who had guarded my true form, a spirit herb, for thousands of years.
So I wanted to try.
