Genshin Impact: Fairy Tales from the Fortress of Meropide

[This novel will be available to purchase on January 11, 2024. The paywalled version starts at Chapter 24. Thank you for your support.] A friend asks if, staying in a place like the Fortress of Meropide, you ever go hungry or lose sleep, constantly on edge and fighting everyone around you. You think about everything you've done all this time: fighting the warden for seats, clothes, and the head nurse; becoming the most popular person in the Fortress of Meropide; tossing candy back and forth with the warden every day; ordering him around and making him buy you coffee... You: Actually, I guess I should be going hungry and losing sleep. Who knows when the warden will suddenly lose his temper and slap some sort of charge on me? :P * A white dove entered the steel fortress beneath the water, wandering without a care through a gathering place for criminals. So bold, so carefree, so composed, because it roosted beneath the wolf's claws and fangs. No one dared capture the white dove. It danced with the wolf. * “The princess got together with the wizard, so why can't a writer get together with the warden?” “I never said we couldn't. But I have to go out to gather material.” “And once you leave, you won't come back? Fair enough. The world above the water is colorful and a lot prettier than my place.” “I never said I wouldn't come back. I'll definitely be back in three months at the latest.” “Ha, three months. I'm getting ready to quit.” “Sure.” “...” *Writer × Warden. The writer enters the Fortress of Meropide to gather material. *Even though I got Wriothesley wrong, I still gave him a wife. I'm so kind. *It's written in second person because it's easier. By that I mean the heroine's name is too long, and I can't be bothered to type it. *It's a short story, started on a whim. Updates daily or every other day. *Saved on 10/21. Theme: A simple, peaceful life is the real thing
