The Prince and I Both Lose Our Disguises

A dark past.

Happy ending. A cold, affection-starved young prince (male lead) vs. a seemingly goofy but actually stoic and burdened young leader of the Hall (female lead). Both have secret identities.

Tang Xianyun, a little beggar who has been begging on Shaoguang Street for as long as she can remember, recently found a man fleeing famine.

He was hungry, poorly dressed, and homeless, but he saved her life.

Tang Xianyun waved her little hand. "From now on, you'll be eating with me."

So she took him to beg on the busiest streets in the capital,

to sneak bites of the fanciest private kitchen dishes,

and to sing and perform on the street for money...

Later, the lame man transformed into a graceful and handsome prince.

He opened his folding fan, a faint smile appearing on his refined face. "Why don't you call me Third Brother anymore?"

Later, the man pampered her until she became the young lady every woman in Liangcheng envied.

He took her to admire flowers and ride horses, wanting only to see every mountain and river of their homeland with her and spend this life hand in hand.

But he never expected the girl to come to him carrying an even greater secret.

Behind-the-scenes schemes drove the struggle for power at court and the battles within the palace.

Only after he finally took the throne and became the new emperor did he realize that the frail young woman he had always thought he was protecting had actually been protecting him all along.
