I’m going to start updating daily. I’m putting that commitment out there first.
[Next up]: "Wild Wind Disturbs Me [Criminal Investigation]", and a sequel, "Abyss of Sin 2: Life and Death". The same cast returns. Both blurbs are at the very bottom.
[Couple]: One-on-one, happy ending, both are each other’s first and only. Older top. An icy, devoted, sickly beauty shou who leads a criminal investigation team × a handsome, wealthy, doting, loyal forensic team leader gong. You could also call them a somewhat icy, frail, high-and-mighty flower × an exceptionally enthusiastic puppy who whines when he can’t win his sweetheart over. Ten-year age gap.
Blurb:
A horrifying mass murder of an entire family takes place in Yizhou City. The subordinate Public Security Bureau needs just two words to describe the crime scene: bodies everywhere, rivers of blood. The case is extremely difficult to solve, so the Yizhou Municipal Public Security Bureau immediately offers assistance and asks for the case to be transferred to its Major Crimes Unit.
The Yizhou Public Security Bureau urgently recalls Shi Cining, the criminal investigation team leader who is on medical leave, and forms a special task force to solve the major case as quickly as possible.
Shi Cining is young, with an impressive record of service. He’s a workaholic, and workaholics tend not to take care of themselves. Just one week after surgery for a stomach hemorrhage, he’s already back at the bureau.
Shi Cining plans to borrow someone from the Forensics Division to work closely with the First Criminal Investigation Team. Shao Linchuan, head of Forensics Team One, barges into the meeting and volunteers to become the team’s full-time forensic pathologist.
Shao Linchuan volunteers, and no one dares submit a second application. After all, Shao Linchuan has been looking after Shi Cining since he was a baby drinking formula. They’re more than childhood friends, and everyone knows what Shao Linchuan has in mind.
What does he want? To pursue Shi Cining.
But Shi Cining is like an iceberg now, decisive and brisk in his work. He rejects every show of concern from Shao Linchuan, nothing like the clingy, weepy child he used to be. His colleagues privately call him the Iceberg Beauty.
Hearing that makes Shao Linchuan feel awful. His Shi Cining has never been like that.
As the investigation continues, Shi Cining discovers that the mass murder is only the tip of an abyss of crime. It also leads to a massive organ-smuggling operation, and even unresolved issues from a major case twenty years ago. This web is tangled and complex, and one wrong move could have unimaginable consequences.
Among those unimaginable consequences is the danger to Shao Linchuan.
Shi Cining decides to wade into this mess alone and keep Shao Linchuan out of it. He puts on his coat and turns on the light, only to see Shao Linchuan sitting on the sofa with his arms crossed and a dark expression.
Instead of climbing into bed as usual to rub Shi Cining’s stomach and soothe him to sleep, Shao Linchuan sits in the living room all night.
Shi Cining is taken aback. “Linchuan, what are you doing here?”
Shao Linchuan keeps a stern face and gestures toward the dining table with his chin. “Breakfast is on the table. Your stomach’s bad, so you need to eat on time, take your medicine, and then go to work.”
Shi Cining nods and turns to eat breakfast. Shao Linchuan wraps his arms around his waist from behind. His voice is low, his tone certain, as if they’ll face life and death together: “Ningning, wherever you go, I’ll go with you.”
“I’m worried you won’t take care of yourself if I’m not there. This time, don’t reject me.”
#I want to let light shine into this deep ravine.
Shao Linchuan: How did the little neighbor boy I’ve looked after since he was a child become my boss?

[Next up]: "Wild Wind Disturbs Me [Criminal Investigation]"
Chen Qing is the head of the Criminal Investigation Corps, while Ji Mingjing is a newly transferred interrogation expert. They’ve never met before. When they see each other for the first time, Ji Mingjing greets him warmly, but Chen Qing doesn’t even look up. “Mm.”
Ji Mingjing freezes awkwardly in place.
There’s something different about Chen Qing.
Even after seeing each other again and again at the bureau, Ji Mingjing can’t get a conversation going with Chen Qing. He barely speaks and is like an iceberg. He hardly sleeps, working and working. Work is all he does.
Chen Qing often has stomach pains but keeps responding to calls and working. Ji Mingjing notices. He asks a friend about the most effective stomach medicine, buys some, and gives it to Chen Qing. For the first time, Chen Qing looks up and studies Ji Mingjing carefully.
Later, a case involves an undercover investigation. The criminal investigation team has to choose two officers who have never gone undercover before. The result: Chen Qing volunteers, and Ji Mingjing volunteers.
Ji Mingjing’s undercover identity is a university professor, with Chen Qing playing his graduate student. The university requires them to live in the same dorm room after class. As luck would have it, the room has only one bed, so they have no choice but to squeeze into it together.
That night, Chen Qing has a stomach attack and trembles all over from the pain. Ji Mingjing, behind him, feels his way over and holds him. His hot palm rests against Chen Qing’s cold, tense abdomen as he whispers into the darkness, “Relax, Captain Chen... Chen Qing, are the stomach spasms bad? Relax... It’s okay. I’m here to take care of you. Take a deep breath... Once you’ve calmed down a little, I’ll get your medicine.”
Chen Qing says nothing and doesn’t resist Ji Mingjing’s care.
After the undercover mission ends, the relationship between Chen Qing and Ji Mingjing becomes a little complicated. But what truly pries open Chen Qing’s heart, full of secrets, is the moment before they set off on a dangerous mission.
“We’re going to arrest him. He’s armed. Don’t come with me,” Chen Qing says coldly. “I have no home and no one to worry about. I’m not like you.”
“You have a home. You have me,” Ji Mingjing says. “Just like on that undercover mission, I’ll volunteer again. I, Ji Mingjing, want to give you a home. What do you say, Captain Chen?”
“Chen Qing, I’m here. Don’t force yourself to bear it alone.”
#You said nothing, and the wild wind disturbed me.
[Character setup] Both are each other’s first and only. A sickly beauty shou, restrained, self-destructive, tragic yet devoted × a wealthy, exceptionally gentle, older, loyal puppy gong. Some healing. I originally wanted to write a marriage-first, love-later story, but it didn’t quite fit the subject. There’s a fake teacher-student relationship.
[Next up]: "Abyss of Sin 2: Life and Death [Criminal Investigation]"
A very important figure has arrived in Ningjiang New District, or so everyone says. No one knows his background. All they know is that he’s very rich, owns a huge private villa, and often throws parties. It’s always brightly lit, day or night.
None of this has anything to do with the Ningjiang Municipal Public Security Bureau, until the “important figure” is found dead in his swimming pool, bloated into a giant corpse. A passerby sees him and calls the police.
The major crimes team led by Shi Cining and Shao Linchuan receives orders and immediately heads to the scene. There is only one victim so far, but this case affects Shi Cining and Shao Linchuan more deeply than any they’ve handled before, even more than the notorious “9.28 Mass Murder.”
The reasons:
1. After reporting the body, the passerby receives psychological counseling from the Public Security Bureau. The corpse, bloated until even its fat has burst and oozed out, is standing upright and smiling.
2. A face has been sewn onto the bloated corpse. It isn’t a fake. It’s real, taken from someone who was once alive.
3. It isn’t the bloated corpse that’s smiling, but the face sewn onto it.
4. Some notes and phone numbers on the “important figure’s” desk list prohibited and obscure drugs, black-market contacts, and ways to log into the dark web. They called the dead man “Mr. Big.”
5. There’s a hidden room in the villa. The smell of rotting human flesh wafts through the door. This falls within Shao Linchuan’s area of expertise. He can smell at least three distinct stages of decomposition, but one person can’t die in three separate stages. Before opening the hidden door, Shao Linchuan has already reached his conclusion: there are at least three bodies inside. At least.
6. The police find an invitation addressed specifically to Shi Cining and Shao Linchuan. If they don’t show up on time, the sender will sink a cruise ship carrying six hundred people in Chinese waters.
The handwritten invitation comes with two cruise tickets. The departure date is just fifteen days away, leaving the police only fifteen days to act.
It turns out Mr. Big’s death wasn’t an accident. It was a blatant declaration, part of a carefully planned mass murder that would kill six hundred people, including Shi Cining and Shao Linchuan.
The black market, smuggling, the dark web, the cruise ship hideout: those nightmares have returned.
Three years later, Shi Cining is once again tossing and turning with anxiety. He worries about Shao Linchuan’s safety. Shao Linchuan is the one he loves most, the person he will never waver in loving.
The intense anxiety suddenly triggers a stomach spasm. Ever since his surgery for a stomach hemorrhage, this keeps happening. He clutches the sheets in pain, immediately waking Shao Linchuan, who is also sleepless.
Shao Linchuan holds Shi Cining from behind and pulls away the cold hand pressed tightly to his stomach. He draws Shi Cining fully into his arms. His hands are warm as he gently rubs the coldest, most tense part of his abdomen.
Shao Linchuan has always been there to take Shi Cining’s weakness and pain into his own hands. Afraid that talking at night will upset him and interfere with his sleep, he usually comforts him in silence, soothing him until the pain passes, then patting him gently and coaxing him back to sleep.
But this time, Shao Linchuan speaks into the darkness. “Ningning, I’m ready... ready for anything, even if we die.”
“We won’t,” Shi Cining says, his voice trembling from the intense stomach pain. But his tone is as unwavering as Shao Linchuan’s three years ago that morning: they’ll face life and death together. “I’ll bring you home.”
#I’ll bring you home, just like you brought me home when we were children.
#A torrential downpour lies before us, and the lights of countless homes shine behind us.
[Character setup]: See the first book of "Abyss of Sin". Shi Cining × Shao Linchuan.
No special instructions or reading guide. Feel free to leave any comments. I like them whether they’re good or bad. I’m a little masochistic, so insulting me is a treat.
